It's time, Dave.  HOF QBs in their 20s go on the market once a generation if that.  Make it happen, whatever the cost, whoever has to get traded.  Nothing are worth the 10+ years of top tier QB play we'd get from DW

I'm all on the DW train if the price is right, but 10+ years? Does anyone really expect that? Isn't he something like the most sacked QB since he entered the league and he's 25.. not sure he'll be balling out at 35 with the amount of punishment he's already taken

Texans want 3 first round picks

I’m sure they do.

but they just lost their negotiating leverage when Watson went public. You can’t have a disgruntled face of the franchise. So they now almost certainly must trade him.

I bet he goes to the Dolphins

They have the assets, are on the upswing, great defense, a legit young TE & OL...and a trade history w/HOU.  An ideal setup makes it seem almost too good to happen.

NYJ are another dumpster fire, doubt Watson wants that, and this is the rare NFL scenario where the player has say with the No trade clause.

Bias aside, looking around the league, I think the 49ers, Panthers & Dolphins are the young teams, with exciting coaches, promising foundations, that I'd be interested in if I were a top QB on the trade market.  Maybe Chicago.

NYJ? DEN? ATL? DET? PHI? WFT? Hell no.

So, twice. That's all you got huh? Two times. Neither for a QB? Wow. That's lovely.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Also the RG3 trade was pretty bad. You have an example of one that worked out?

There'll be enough teams interested  that they just might get it. Don't think it'll be from us though.

Jay Cutler trade was two firsts and two seconds plus something else, if I remember correctly.

That's an example of another quarterback trade, but not one that worked out.

Chicago would be tough IMO for that FO.  I mean, they have spent the last several years being mocked for not taking Watson in the draft and picking Mitch instead.    Guess it depends on how you look at it though.  To me, it just highlights what a joke that FO would be....to then give up the farm to get the guy you had and refused to take.

Watson is reportedly a big fan of Robert Saleh.

Miami and San Francisco both have former colleagues of Nick Caserio (Brian Flores and Adam Peters) in high places. Plus each has a young quarterback they can offer in return.

For Watson, San Francisco has the additional appeal of Kyle Shanahan's system.

I've seen trades for first rounders that worked out for trading up in a draft. For instance, Mahomes. But, I can't think of any QB's that were traded for numerous first rounders.

    • The best part is they compliment each other. Chuba is a more patient runner, patiently waiting for gaps to form while Rico is more explosive. I wish they would use Rico more like McCaffery was used - getting him the ball in space to take advantage of his explosivness and violence. Then have Chuba pound the middle for the tough yards.
    • I loved those late 90s-early 2000s Miami teams.  If McGahee hadn’t had that injury, he would probably have been a Top 10 all-time rusher, no doubt in my mind.  The fact he didn’t lose his leg below the knee is still a miracle.  And the fact he came back from that, made it in the NFL, and still carved out a career that included over 8k yards rushing and two pro bowls is damn impressive.  It just demonstrates how good he would have been had he never had the injury.  Prior to that, he was like nothing I had ever seen.  Like a bigger, more physical and elusive Reggie Bush.
    • Boozer may end up going higher in the draft, but agree about Caleb Wilson. Give me that dude, think he's going to translate very well and has the attitude I want on a young team.  My perfect world as of now... Trade anything not bolted down as far as vet's go. Sexton is on an expiring and would be an easy flip. Bridges, just get him somewhere else. One year left on a low $20 mil deal should be an easy trade...but the apron for many teams could haunt us.  LaMelo is the issue. Likely would have to trade our problem to someone else for their problem (Ja, Zion, Zach Lavine) to make contracts somewhat match up.  I want to build around last year's draft class, get as many bites at this draft class as possible, etc. If we get lucky and get #1 or #2, wonderful. If not, get into the top 5 or so and grab Caleb Wilson.
