Yes, he has a rep for being a dick--even in his own family--but he gets Green Bay to the playoffs.  Reminds me of the Marino swagger--I hated that guy.

I remember reading about a player who idolized Marino growing up. Then he got to the NFL, got to play against Marino, saw how he acted on the field and got over it.

Remember Deems Maye?  He was playing with the Chargers and was injured when they were in the Super Bowl in Miami. I spoke to him in the spring following that game on the golf course at Uwharrie Point.  He went to the game, and was partying at Marino's house--he said he had never met him and was a bit in awe of him--then he said he'd never been around a person with a stronger case of narcissism and entitlement.

My sister's a big fan because of his work with autism. Years back, he sent her an autographed football to raffle off for a fundraiser.

Kudos for all that but yeah, he's still a dick.

The best thing to do is sit tight and see what falls to us.  Then have a plan.

However, if you could get a Watson for CMC and Shaq and maybe a second rounder, you make that trade and trade #8 back for more picks in the 18-40 range.

Lol no way you could get Watson for that

Maybe a 3rd or 2022 2nd. Reports are that he hasn’t even looked good enough so far to be the #2 QB in Green Bay. Their beat reporter said even if Rodgers was released/traded this offseason his guess it that Love wouldn’t start. He was a late 1st round pick as it is and a year of his cheap contract has been used up. Combined with the reports on his progress so far, I don’t think we should consider this unless it’s for a price that makes GB look retarded (I.e. won’t happen).

You should probably do that but that's not a realistic trade.

Rodgers in the past 2 weeks or so:

Loses the NFC game because he can't make a play in the red zone on 3 downs--blames his coach for not going for it on fourth--in the media.

Hints to reporters that he may not be in Green Bay next year--using vague, "try to figure me out" ambiguous, intentionally-misleading, attention-getting language.

Now wants the team to commit to him and rid themselves of the backup (probably because he knows that backup is him 12 years ago--sitting behind Favre.)

Why would you trade the #8 pick for a guy who would be the 6th QB taken in THIS years draft. JL is horrendous, he's their third stringer.

I shouldn’t have posted 1st round pick, it could have been any pic. For the record I don’t believe we should do this, like I stated in the original post, it is just for discussion. Even a 2nd round pick was just a topic for discussion.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
