All a ploy to boost up these offers.

Honestly don't think so.

McClain indicated that if Watson were to threaten to sit out, etc. that the Texans were prepared to call his bluff.

He added further that there was only one team that might be able to push a trade in this scenario, and it's the Jets. Though he added that it would require "more than anyone's ever paid for a quarterback trade in NFL history".

Well that's not going to help your QB play this year. LOL. I knew Houston was going to be this dumb. The price keeps dropping is all I hear.

Oh the longer this drags on, the lower the price will get. Largely because teams will take QB positions and then be out of the market.

If Houston was smart, they'd be blowing up the phone of every QB needy team in the NFL.

I suspect they will also go after Watson's signing bonus too. Once that happens, their place at the bottom of the NFL will be forever completed. Players will not want to play there and they will struggle to ever resign any homegrown talent.

This is going to be fantastic to watch them crumble.

Not only time but it sounds like he already didn't like Houston. With his leverage he can really hit them where it hurts. Crap like this only increases the chances of it getting worse for Houston.

IF they were smart they would shut up and find the best option and pull the trigger regardless. Him sitting a year is a year where that's all that is talked about in regard to Houston. The gun is to their head and they are acting like it's play time.

What would you expect him to say? Obviously they prefer not to trade him. I mean if you are trading him you certainly play hardball to make teams bring their best offer.

Ultimately, they will be faced with a dilemma....

1 -  Trade Watson before the draft and get picks to kick off your rebuild in 2021. Move on from an ugly situation, and allow your rookies to enter a new era without the negativity hanging over their heads.

2 -  Ignore how Watson is feeling towards the uppers in the organization. Ignore that he isn't changing his mind, be stubborn thinking you can change his mind, miss out on the draft this year, a year in which you have no 1st or 2nd round picks, watch Watson sit out anyway, ultimately delaying the rebuild/picks an entire year while the cloud of the situation hangs over the organization.

McClain confirmed they were ready to go that route if it happened.

Texans will play waiting game with Watson

It's kind of like watching a relationship with one of your buddies and telling him to rid of his GF/spouse because it is plainly obvious where it is all heading. But they double down to try and salvage it, only for more time to pass before the inevitable happens and they split up.

That's Houston and Watson right now.
