So I want to make sure I am on the same page.

We want a franchise QB.  We just want either a young vet.  Someone 25ish or younger. Or a draft pick. We just want to give up absolutely nothing to get him. I think we've been using the Madden trade function too often.

Cam?

and let’s not forget the game was scheduled just a few days before it was to take place, and BYU had to travel across the country so they basically had one day to prepare.

BYU might as well be. They don’t play nobody. Lost to fuging Coastal Carolina.

At least Coastal was a ranked team and a division 1 program. As others have pointed out, that game was scheduled the week off and there was no preparation time. Additionally, Wilson looked really sharp in that game even though his OL had him running for this life constantly.

Regardless of BYU's competition (which is certainly better than North Dakota state's)...

BYU - division 1 program

North Dakota state - division 2 program

How many National titles does Wilson have?   Undefeated seasons???  Pick-less seasons????  Anything??????

I guess pretty much every draft guru is wrong then when you consider Wilson is overwhelming mocked higher than Lance?

Also, not sure if you followed it closely, but North Dakota state has been a powerhouse lately in Division 2 football. Don't pretend Lance has brought them to relevance.

As always, depends on what we give up.  Trey Lance scares the absolute crap out of me.  I really don't want us to settle for him.

No real difference than Josh Allen out of a smaller school in Wyoming, and he was 7th overall...Baker and Donald went ahead of him, then Rosen at 10.

That's when you have to believe you have the staff in place to 1) develop, and 2) put real weapons, and OL around a young QB talent to let him mature.

If we could keep our picks, and Lance was available at 8 I'd be happy, his stock would be higher if he'd had a 2020 season. Elite athleticism, and arm talent to go with our full slate of picks allows us to trade back in the subsequent rounds with more opportunities to land some quality rookies.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
