Possibly the craziest draft story you might read

Wilson's skill set is phenomenal, but his physical durability concerns me.

Also, while I'm not about to predict that Lawrence will be bad, I don't necessarily believe he's the quarterback god that a lot of people see him to be.

Even factoring both those things in though, this is still hard for me to believe.

Could you imagine the outright pandemonium it would cause draft night if Wilson went 1st overall? Oh lawd they’d have to pause the draft and get open extra phone lines to NY.

I can't remember for certain if anybody was predicting Baker Mayfield to go number one a few years back. If so, there probably weren't many because most saw it is a huge surprise.

This would be like that on steroids.

I really like him as a prospect and feel the same way about the mahomes vibes.

I want him. I hope we trade up to get him.

I do question whether people actually watched Mahomes in college.

That or I shouldn't be shot down for saying Jones gives me Brady vibes. It's the same tenuous comparison.

There's a lot to like about Wilson - his footwork is his biggest question for me. It needs reworking.

I can absolutely understand why some teams have Wilson over Lawrence - Lawrence has too many glaring misreads and at times is worrying inaccurate for me to laud him as a generational talent.

That said, if I had the #1 pick as a GM and it was my ass on the line, you could bet your mortgage on me taking Lawrence. He's just got too much going for him for Wilson to overcome (better athlete, more experience).

Based on what?  His BMI is higher than Trevor, so you're not talking about some toothpick of a prospect.  He had the one shoulder injury that he played with since high school, had it fixed and has played two seasons since at a high level.

Seems like grasping at straws for a reason not to like the kid.  I don't think we have a chance in hell of getting him, but I really like him.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I've watched Lawrence play I've been underwhelmed. Again, not necessarily that he's bad, but that he might not be as good as advertised.

Perhaps I just didn't catch him at his best.

I actually want to like the kid. I think he's great.

The biggest thing for me is that when I read evaluations of him, they remind me of the ones I read about Teddy Bridgewater when he was in college.

I said the same thing about Bridgewater at the time.

For me at least, it's the confidence/swagger the kid has when the play breaks down and he rolls out of the pocket. He is calm and looking downfield to make the big play and you can tell he just expects whatever he's about to do to work because why wouldn't it? Then he whips it downfield on a rope in the perfect spot with awkward footing.

11 tds and 9 picks in the c-USA is playing at a high level since when ? He had only one good year and that was this year then came up small against the best competition he faced against costal . I’m not buying it just don’t see it . He got a nice arm tho

    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
    • Dan Marino sucked too I guess. Washed up Elway carried by Terrell Davis was actually better than prine Elway. Lol
