Helluva prospect. Zero desire to draft him due to desperate needs at positions of much higher positional value.

Eh, I'm still on board Pitts as a fall back plan, even after signing Arnold. he is somewhere between Greg Olsen and Vernon Davis as a prospect. To me it's a Derwin James type situation: you know the guy is walking in to the NFL as a top 5 guy at his position, just not as important as the rest of the regulars (kickers excluded). That said James in my mind was undervalued even at safety, sucks the guy has had issues staying on the field.

I wanted James sooooo bad.

If Pitts is worst out-come for the 8th pick, Im perfectly fine with that 10/10. Imagine trying to stop Pitts, CMC, Anderson, Moore and _______ . Teddy or not, having a legit threat at each inch of the field, I could go along with that so long all QBs and LTs are long gone. O and Chase is gone as well, the NFL has vastly under rated TE anyways.

Now all these numbers coming out of these pro-day are sus, very sus. Even if you add 10% to that 4.46 its still very impressive.

Challenge accepted. My entire D is gonna be within 10 yards of the LOS every snap

Pitts going top 15 will be a mistake.  He is a uber athletic big WR/TE.  He has rare talent but it's not like we have not seen this before.  Recently Mike Gesicki out of Penn St. ran a 4.55 official at the combine.  Leaped out of the building and put up 20+ reps on the bench.  He was taken in the second round.  Pitts had more college production but comparing raw upside they similar.  Bottom of the first into top of the second is Pitts actual value.  Pro day numbers are notorious for being inflated.  In all honesty I would take a chance on baby gronk out of yep Penn st at a discount over Pitts.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
