I think Pitts is a better prospect at TE than the others are at T. and I think Pitts is a safer bet to hit his potential than the others are. I like all three prospects a lot but I take Pitts and figure the rest out with other picks.

This sums up how I feel. The draft is fairly deep for offensive line help as it is. Our offense had it's best years recently with elite te play. The top teams in the nfl have that also in Tampa and KC. Not to mention we have upcoming contracts and priorities to consider on who to sign on both sides of the ball in the next season or two like DJ Moore so drafting another young dominant offensive weapon on a rookie contract is a big plus.

Having TE like Pitts completely changes the offense. We won’t get the opportunity to have one of the league’s best mismatches for years if we don’t grab him if he’s available. A great LT is of course a big win. But we can address LT easier in subsequent FA and the draft easier than getting a TE of Pitt’s quality in years to come.

Franchise LTs don't come available on the FA market very often.

If it's a choice between a guy we think can hold down LT for a decade and Pitts at #8, you take the LT.

If said LT is gone and so are the QBs you like, I'm comfortable taking Pitts.

Pitts and McCaffrey will give opposing LB corps (and Safeties) sleepless nights. Add in Moore's ability to dominate on the outside and that's an enviable stable of talent at the skill positions.

AZ-Buff was on the other night. What I saw of Arnold was he runs 1 yd past the marker and turns around and catches the ball.

That's likely what the play design is.

Plus, sad to say it but that's an improvement over what we did last year.

    • Yeah, I think next year will be a semi-rebuild/bridge year until we get nikishkin here. But... If we are able to have those lines you have above next year, I will be thrilled.    Edit: I'm fairly certain Staal retires or goes to another team next year
    • For Brian Burns obviously
    • Solid breakdown. Don't agree with everything but I agree with a lot. On some of the plays he blamed on Bryce, I think it was a play design/play progression issue and not necessarily Bryce missing seeing open guys, but then again, should he have been able to recognize the players who would be open based on coverage pre-snap as his super processor was supposed to be his best trait? Bryce's confidence was shot by this game and you could see him rush through his reads on multiple plays. Hopefully that gets better this year and we didn't completely ruin him and make him gunshy a la David Carr. I know Canales is big on the fundamentals so I am hoping to see better footwork and timing related to it on the play designs this coming season.
