Voth: OL or TE?

Granted, we haven't been great at tight end, but we did just sign a decent one.

Great analogy. Having a great OL will do wonders for the offensive weapons we have. Just ask the Saints and the Cowboys (before injuries and age set in). On the other hand, Fitterer has seen what happened with a below average OL in Seattle so it wouldn’t be a shock if OT is the pick @ 8.

Sewell/Slater and then Mond in round 2.

I can live with that. Especially if Mond Sucks we can give him the Jimmy Clausen treatment in 2022.

I'm here if we don't go QB R1.

A scenario of high unlikeliness but I'd love:

Trade down but still in the top 15 to land an extra 2nd.  Use pick 40+something else to get back into the first:

1-high teens: Alijah Vera-Tucker OT

1-late: Jalen Mayfield OT

2: Rashod Bateman WR

That plugs the holes.  Release Teddy, try out a random trade/alternate option at the possibility of sucking something fierce at QB, netting a high 2022 pick.

I don't really want to use a second round pick on Mond or any other guy whose ceiling is to be a backup.

We could put that pick to a lot better use, like a lineman or a corner.

If we trade back, I’d rather pick up a 1st next year to give us ammo to go get a QB (Howell). I can see that scenario if the QBs and OL are gone.

What if Chase is available at 8 but lineman are gone? Does that interest anyone? Although I don’t think there’s a chance in hell he makes it past Miami

You remember that time when all the good dline folks would be long gone when we picked? And the Jets took Richardson instead of Star?

Is that like when we won a "meaningless game" against the Saints and as a result we lost the ability to pick a top flight pass rusher like Brian Burns at #16 because losing to secure #9 was the only way?

I love sewell, and would be good with drafting him. The thing is Pitts is a once in 20 years guy, I hear the wr have been kicking the tackle problem done the road argument and that's right. But.. class is deep there. We also haven't really had a Redzone weapon..since I guess Benjamin?

PItts has the longest reach ever recorded.. comes down to so you think sewell is a generation tackle and not Jack fisher one of those types.638916372.thumb.jpg.8f6281c2e9cc02fdb04274d612aa3465.jpg

    • Things like this happen everyday. We live in a social media driven society where loyalty is a foreign concept.
    • If you draft a guy who is healthy and has no concerns about that whatsoever and he goes out and tears his ACL in his first few games in the regular season on a physical play that's a freak accident. But when you trade up to draft an RB who is already rehabbing from a recent ACL tear and he spends the next several months continuing his rehab only to tear the same ACL again after less than a handful of regular season carries in a non contact circumstance that is no freak accident. That is a textbook example of why you do not do what we did. Particularly for what is now a plug and play position. And when you have the highest paid OL in the league over the next two years. None of that makes any logical sense. Legitimately it is and was some Scott Fitterer type foolishness. Now as for XL. The guy has not been committed to his craft. I think anyone with eyes on the situation can and would recognize that. However the warning signs were there. One season of legit production raw prospect that we knew would take time to develop etc. But Morgan and Bryce Young's own father were very high on him. I think in some capacity the reality of our limitation at QB is entering into the equation. Even TMac got a lot of flak over the course of his rookie season for not being able to haul in all of Bryce's passes. At the end of the day our fourth year QB also needs to do his part to maximize the talent we have available. As far as this year. Again. WR round 1 boils down to where are we going to get the touches for the rookie? That would require eating into not only our 8th overall picks touches but also our #2 WR whom oh yeah by the way was UNDRAFTED. I am happy to discuss WR prospects here. I was thrilled we invested what we did last year in TMac because it needed to be done and it made sense from all angles. But nowhere is it written in stone that you cannot draft a good or great WR outside of the first round. Except in the Panthers building apparently. That is not a good reflection on our scouts and front office let me tell ya. Because there's no way on this earth we are going to get back to relevancy and legitimate contender status if we can't pick some gems in the later rounds. Simple and plain.
    • This is pretty accurate our offense needs more juice. I love Cooker but he’s not enough XL ummm we’ll see this year hopefully the third year WR thing hits him and he plays better but still not enough. Honestly we need look at the Eagles they just adds Wicks and Hollywood Brown to that core. That shows the level of talent needed to compete at a championship level this coming season. And this below is the real problem KC doesn’t seem to add that much to our offense. We Makai Lemon or defense at 19
