Ill add two things - Qbs Marcus Mariota played backup with a 10 million salary last year and took a huge cut this year(3.5 I think)

Case Keenum was traded and had a contract close to Teddys', he also had to take a cut.

Hope is alive huddlers!!

I think Teddy will beat out Sam for the starting job. Teddy was better than Sam with the Jets, but Sam was the “shiny new toy” and deemed to be “ready enough”.

Teddy won’t be Panther much longer!

That’s because none of his salary this year was guaranteed. Still sort of surprised he agreed anyhow. Carr is definitely their plan for now after last year. Surely he had to think he could have gotten 3.5M.

But teams don’t want to pay backup QBs, especially in a cash strapped year. I wish the Steelers would have scraped together 4M. I’d much rather have Teddy, Trubisky, Mariota...etc....over Mason Rudolph.

Teddy would have to rework his deal and Panthers would have to pay majority of the $10 million guaranteed to him this year.

Why would Teddy ever agree to "rework his deal"...??

Marcus is nothing this year, but Case had 7 mill in guaranteed. Marcus was mainly pointing out backup salary are 10 million and thats Teddys guarantee. Its possible with panthers paying a large part. They waited marcus out, til the money dried up.

Get out of Charlotte, away form Rhule, and the other meanies..... I wouldnt take ANY thing less than the guarantee... He may want a shot at starting too, that is not happening here. It doesnt feel messy, but it could easy get there in a nano second.

    • You could be right. But it's still a bad look for them, too.  People will look at them just take the money and feel that they let someone who committed a crime...off the hook.
    • The Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Indiana Pacers are all tied at 33-38 for the Eastern Conference’s No. 8, No. 9, and No. 10 seeds. With only one regular season game left, today’s matchup against the Wizards could ultimately determine if the Hornets make the playoffs or not. Charlotte holds the tiebreaker over both the Wizards and Pacers. A win today would cement the Hornets as the No. 8 seed. This is massively important in light of the NBA’s new play-in approach where the No. 7 through No. 10 seeds will face off to determine who makes the playoffs. If the Hornets win today they will face the No. 7 seed and the winner makes the playoffs. If they lose as the No. 8 seed, they will face the winner of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 seed, and the winner of that game makes the playoffs. The path to the playoffs is much easier as the No. 8 seed than if the Hornets lose today and end up No. 9 or No. 10. This game is about as big as it gets in the regular season.   https://www.atthehive.com/2021/5/16/22438208/preview-the-hornets-regular-season-finale-against-the-wizards-has-massive-playoff-implications?utm_campaign=atthehive&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
    • Maybe they just want Watson to acknowledge what he did and this settlement includes that.
