DJ Moore: Only current WR with consecutive 1100+ yard seasons?

I don't know where this idea came from. But, I've seen it parroted here by different posters for months now.

Unless I am crazy, this is patently false.

7 Players w/ 1100+ yds both years

S Diggs - 1535 + 1130 = 2665

T Kelce - 1416 + 1229 = 2645

D Hopkins - 1407 + 1165 = 2572

A Robinson II - 1250 + 1147 = 2397

DJ Moore - 1175 + 1193 = 2368

D Waller - 1196 + 1145 = 2341

A Cooper - 1114 + 1189 = 2303

So, DJ Moore is a top 5 receiver over the past 2 years?

Eh, not so much. Between injuries and Covid, many players didn't play a full 32 games the past 2 years. Edelmen opted out completely, though I'd imagine his stats would be pretty close to DJ's.

J Jones - 1394 + 773 = 2167 (in 24 games

M Thomas - 1725 + 438 = 2163 (in 23 games

D Adams - 1374 + 997 = 2371 (in 26games

And the guy picked side by side with DJ in the draft...

C Ridley - 1374 + 866 = 2240 (in 28 games

You could argue that availiblity is the most important ability.  But, outside of Julio, none of these guys have injury prone histories. And I don't think any rational person would argue that DJ>JJ at this point.  Yet, despite being hobbled by injuries, all 4 out performed Moore when they were on the field.

Then you have young guys like Jefferson and Metcalf whose stats project out much better over time. They may not reach their ceilings, but they have already done more with their time in the league than DJ did.

All of this is to say,

1. Stop saying dumb poo that is demonstrably untrue.

2. DJ Moore is not a top 5 receiver in the NFL. He is borderline top 10.

3. DJ is much closer to the Coopers/Allens/Locketts than he is to the Jones/Hopkins/Diggs of the world.

I already know I’m catching hell for this but I think he’s one of the most overrated players on this roster

I won't go that far. I just think, between Cam/Allen/Teddy haters, there's been an effort to make our weapons seem better than they were. Which is weird, because the were pretty effing good already.

I do wish we would've signed Samuel long term (for less than it will cost for DJ) and let Robbie and DJ fight for a contract this year a la Morgan/Witherspoon back in the day

The specific stat is...

DJ Moore is in fact the ONLY WR to post 1175 or more yards in both 2019 and 2020.

I will admit I am too lazy to look up the exact number and just say 1100+.  But that stat and fact is true and was discussed at the end last season.

Only other player to pull it off was Kelce.   A TE.

1175 lol. Then posts moving.

Well that is the stat the major networks ran with and promoted.

He was the only WR to post at least 1175 yards in each of the last two seasons.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
