Well, I mean he has been the worst QB in the NFL in recent years...

Yeah I get it. I’m not thrilled about it, he is just nice insurance so we don’t get in some absurd bidding war. There is some potential there, and obviously a good amount of risk...

The sucky part is, IF this happens with SF (and I don't see how, logistically/cap-wise), that'd put GB at the #3 spot in the draft. GB has already invested a 1st on Jordan Love, so I doubt they go QB at #3, which means position player.

This *could* be bad news for the Panthers and their hope for Sewell/Slater/Horn

Side note: Rumor has it, Rodgers is complaining about the lack of WR help. It'd be funny if the Packers used the #3 pick on Chase...considering Rodgers is then gone.

I'm crossing my fingers, toes, arms, legs, eyes and nose hairs in hope.

I'd cross my ears, nostrils and butt cheeks if I could.

Can we do something about this post?  Can we start a thread called "Draft day Therapy?"

I’m still trying to figure out why so many huddlers are taking this person so seriously.

Why are you so special?

you must be one of those with “sources”

Couple of things here...

1) History: Verge has correctly predicted things in the past. That includes stuff that wasn't common knowledge or already out there in the Twitterverse.

2) Corroboration: That tweet from Jonathan Jones just a few pages back? Yeah, Verge had that info hours ago (actually days ago if you wanna get technical).

Is Verge always right? No, but show me someone who is. Even established insiders like Rapoport and Schefter wind up with wrong info because that's just the nature of the beast. Things happen that make teams change their minds. Sometimes nothing happens but a team changes their mind anyway. And of course, there's the steady flow of bullsh-t from teams trying to throw other teams off their trail.

Bottom Line: As with anyone who has or claims to have inside sources, it's an individual choice whether to trust them or not.

For others, do what you think best.

Me? I choose to trust Verge.

I also make a pretty mean lasagna.

I said THEY must be sold on Darnold to trade back. I think they are crazy to think Darnold is the answer so IMO they should draft a falling QB (not Mac) if they are there at 8 for security. If they only QB left by 8 is Mac then draft BPA.

So your answer for taking another QB is they are crazy in your opinion if they think Darnold is the guy? I'm sure explaining that to Tepper or the press as a solid reason for taking another QB instead of a tackle or whatever would go over well. "Well you see, what happened was there was this guy on this message board that thinks we're nuts..."

Why not take Jones if he is there and they need security for Darnold? Jones is a highly rated QB in this class.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
