ESPN's Marcus Spears on Matt Rhule

My expectations are that he not be the reason we lost the game.  Anything better than that is gravy.

I think once Sam gets a couple of back to back wins under his belt his confidence is going to sky rocket and super charge this offense.

If our oline is just average we are going to playoffs

AND key players avoid the injury bug.  That has been our downfall even in years when we've had good rosters.

Rhule ain't got long for this job. He just traded a coach maker for a coach killer. Sam's working on his third coach in three years, with one going on to build a Super Bowl winning defense. Talk about seeing ghost; there's going to be some reunions going on with Sam having to face old nemesis from the AFC East. You folks will be lucky to put two wins together this year, and by this time next year yall will be looking for another qb, and possibly another coach while having to pay Sam's 5th year guarantee.

Can't blame Hurney for this one.

Go play in traffic.

Just giving the folks here with the rainbows and unicorns a dose of reality.  You see, there were those who pompously claimed that Teddy is who he always was, are now hugging the nuts of a colossal failure who has been in the league the same amount of time as the guy that they hate. So if you hate Teddy and love Sam, you are on the ship of fools.

You're a colossal failure to this board and I haven't been around for much long.

Teddy's production got two teams to the playoffs. Sam's production got two coaches fired. That's because Teddy operated within the confines of balanced offenses with growing levels of efficiency. Mike Davis and Curtis Samuels got paid as a end result of working with Teddy. Robby and D.J. had career years in yards. Yet to yall, he sucked, and now Jeudy, Fant, and Gordon get to benefit of his play.

With all of that, you of Huddle legend, hang your hat on the narrowest of margins that Sam Darnold may have had over Teddy Bridgewater. What does Sam have to show for his extra seven touchdown passes? Wins? Nope. Playoffs? Nope. Rookie of the year? Pro Bowl? Nope and nope. Just a wasteland where coaches careers go up in flames.

From someone (ME) who had watched the Jets the past 3 seasons, you're full of sh-t.

Todd Bowles got Todd Bowles fired for his years of mediocrity prior to Sam being drafted by the Jets.   Hell, he was a Lame Duck coach (and everyone knew it) during Sam's rookie year even before the season started.

Adam Gase got fired because he deserved to get fired.   He was a moron who did not know how to Coach.

A whole two brain cells that finally meet.  Of course I followed Teddy here, do I need a lawyer?

Well then you can follow his ass right to Denver then since he's no longer here.

You don't need a lawyer.   You need to just leave.

Y’all really think this team is going to win anything with Sam? What a delusional fan base man.

Why not?    It's not like the Panthers were winning anything with Teddy.

Glen, Bro. There's a multi-quote button. I suggest reading the entire thread and clicking on the ones you might possibly want to reply to as you go through. This spamming the thread with replies to days old posts isn't the move.

Sam Darnold hasn't been good though. You can be a fan, optimistic even, and still be realistic.

I am realistic.

I am realistic to know that Bowles and Gase were fired because THEY were bad, not because Sam was.

I know this because I had watched Bowles first several years prior to Sam even becoming a thought in the NY Jets minds and watched Adam Gase be the disaster everyone expected him to be.

There is something quite enjoyable about saying "I told you so"...

...we'll see if @Breakpoint4510 is right on Teddy and/or Sam going forward, only time will tell.

As for his backward looking analysis and parsing of the "narrative" surrounding both players, it is all undeniably spot-on.

You’re just dumb, please just shut the hell up.
