Trevor is more like a QB robot.  Kinda like Peyton Manning if you gave him some decent wheels.   Not saying that is what he will be, but that kinda is the mold.  Easily the highest floor of the group. 

Zach Wilson has a crazy arm.  No doubt.  I think he probably will make some of the worst decisions with the ball though if ranked with that group.

Yeah, but to me Wilson only had one year of great success, weaker competition, and an injury to his throwing shoulder.

I think Trey Lance is gonna be the best qb from this draft class. Especially going to that 49ers team with Shanahan. Arguably the best spot he could’ve landed in. A lot of this stuff has to do with situations the qbs are drafted.
 

I honestly expect an Andrew luck in Indy situation with Lawrence. I think he retires early. I think Wilson is gonna bust but only because of the Jets org. It’s a toss up with fields. That bears org cannot develop qbs and have terrible offenses but I think he’s special. Maybe a cam type situation there plays out.

IIRC Unitas was cut by the Steelers and was on a semi-pro team when Baltimore got him

I mean, you toss Lance and Fields out there day 1.....and there teams will have more wins than Trevor's team this season.  No doubt about that.  Both those teams can push .500 with basically getting little from the QB spot.  

I don't think you can judge a QB by that.  I fully expect Lawrence and Wilson to have loosing seasons and a lot of picks.  There teams will be playing from behind and they don't have the weapons to make that easy on a young QB.

That’s basically what I was saying about depends on where you land. But I think Lance is going to end up being the best of the bunch long term. But that’s just my guess doesn’t mean anything.

I think Trevor enjoys football but doesn’t love it. I see him exiting early.

I agree that there will be a lot more Lucks and Lukes going forward.  High draft picks that get that first big contract.....and decide the smart move is not trash your body by maxing it out in the NFL. 

My money has is still on Trevor and Fields out of this draft.   I've never really bought in on the rest of them.  They all have bigger question marks to me.

Fields is a little different in my opinion because the 3 qb’s before him all looked like heisman finalists in that system and flamed out atrociously in the nfl.

Jones and Barnett were highly criticized about their passing ability while in college though.   Just like some of Urban's FL boys.  Nice stats.  Wins.  But not good passers. 

That was never Fields.  Who outplayed Lawrence twice head to head in the college playoffs and probably the most accurate QB in this draft. 

Haskins was a good passer.  Not a runner like everyone else. But only had 1 college season to name and then went to a NFL team whose coaches (2) didn't want him.   But the little we saw of him wasn't good at all.  But talk about a bad landing.

It is a backwards way to look at it though.   Some systems and teams are notorious for making average qbs look above average.  That has to be factored in as well.  Maybe which colleges produced the most highly touted prospects coming out of college that ended up being busts.  Any college can randomly hit on a good qb eventually.   The question is do some college routinely make their qb look better than they will be at the next level.

      Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.

      Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
