Turner is done unless he commits to getting back in shape. Got paid and looked like he gained 20lbs each year after signing that contract.

Yeah Turner just doesn’t have the love and desire. I don’t blame him. He got his money that sets him up for life. But I wouldn’t be interested in him if I was any team in the league at this point. Unless you just REALLY need help.

I didnt know Decastro had a bad ankle deal.....I need more infro. @Toomers what do you know?

Not that long ago he was thee young upcoming OG, then dallas drafted Martin......then Indy drafted Nelson.....and eagles Brooks caught fire and torn his achilles. Thus desastro became an after thought, still dont know his current status or level of play. I know MR. in on every deal has already checked in.

3 pros and cons to the Carolina Panthers pursuing David DeCastro (catcrave.com)

Quote

He is a two-time All-Pro and has six Pro Bowl selections to his name, with his highest Pro Football Focus grade coming in at a phenomenal 90.0 back in 2017.

DeCastro underwent surgery on his ankle before last season and has had issues with it for some time. He was still good enough in 2020 to earn a sixth consecutive Pro Bowl selection. But he's been contemplating his football future of late while having his ankle evaluated,

This has been a “rumored” outcome for DD for most of the off-season. Best I can tell is the Steelers don’t think he will be healthy enough to be good. Not sure how he made the Pro Bowl last year as the injury dropped his level of play dramatically. Add in that Decastro was considering retirement and 9M was too much to gamble on a player with little chance of being worth that much. He may need to sit out this year just to heal. That’s if he even wants to play anymore.

That being said, I don’t see Trai Turner being a suitable replacement. Best hope is he buys some time for their 3rd round G to come around. Hope this helps but it’s mostly from speculation and opinions from various writers.

    • Looks pretty good, Nash Jensen is another guy who can compete for a backup spot. Best case scenario would be to draft a starting caliber C and have Corbett backup all 3 inside spots.
    • Thank you, I’m hoping Bryce, Canales, and this new Oline works out. If Bryce becomes a franchise QB then even regardless of our record I will be very happy.
    • Thanks to BC's versatility and the addition of Nijman as a swing OT, the costs we have spent on the OL may save us a roster spot.  First, Brady Christensen has played OT and OG for Carolina, and he has always been a notch below average, according to PFF.  Last season, they talked about giving him looks at center, but his injury prevented that from happening.   Most of his experience here is at G, but he also has swing OT abilities.  Nijman is an excellent swing OT, an important addition that gives us Ekwonu insurance and depth at both T spots.  If you consider Cade May has been mentioned as the new backup Center behind Corbett, then he also has the ability to play 3 positions.  Here is how you have solid depth three deep and you do so with better and fewer players.  In the past, the OL has been a madhouse when a lineman goes down--we had 2.  It seems we had someone new in the game every week.  The OL needs to know the system and they need to communicate.  If I were coach, I would carry 8 total OL on the 53-man roster, saving at least one roster spot, and I would feel confident that I had depth on three levels.  Here is what it would look like: (I would keep Zavala on the PS to begin the season--he needs it)  Green indicates a free agent addition
