The on field NFL tape begs to differ. He may have been somewhat accurate in college (but never on deep passes he has always been wildly inaccurate on those) , but he was terrible last season at almost every measurable for an NFL QB. The dude couldn't even complete over 60% of his passes against NFL competition with an average ypa of 5.5. -
There is such a wide disconnect in these discussions on Young because some fans cannot differentiate what ultimately amounts to blind faith based solely on fandom loyalty from real world data and results which say Young finished with one of the worst rookie QB seasons since the Carolina Panthers were introduced to the league. In this era and generation of the sport your arm talent either stands out or it doesn't. That's what we need to see. None of the other moving parts matter without that. -
contrary to what was expected of him from pre-draft hype or where he was drafted or what it cost to move up there....he was just a rookie in the worst imaginable situation. that's what we saw...a rookie in the worst situation a rookie could be in. there's no way i can pass judgment on what he did last year because of that. again, it's probably true that most people in here are a lot smarter than me and it doesn't take more than one season of a rookie in the worst possible situation to know that he's never going to amount to poo, or to at the least know that he's never going to be one to count on, but that's not where i am. i don't judge people in their worst moments when the deck is stacked against them. if i'm going to judge at all, i do it when i see how they respond in the next moment.
