Two teenagers in our household tested positive tonight. Both are sick and out of commission.

This thing is no joke.

Please, get vaccinated and help put and end to this.

Schools will not be open at this rate.

Hope they get better very soon!

You can get two 15 minute covid tests at cvs for 23 bucks. Same one pro sports use.

These 15 minute tests are not very accurate unless you have symptoms

Not sure about total numbers on the accuracy but I can tell you, my oldest 2 daughters, sister and niece took a trip to Key West 2 weeks ago to get away before school started back.  All four came back with COVID.  The middle daughter and my sister had no symptoms, both used the CVS test as a quick answer waiting on actual results to return and they were both positive and they are positive, so it may not be the greatest way but it is a way.  We took it because our oldest daughter brought us gifts the day they returned and we couldn't find a rapid test location near us so we took the lab test, took the rapid test from CVS, we were all negative with the rapid test and were all negative with the lab test.

Sorry to hear about this and wish you a speedy recovery.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but after eighteen months of dealing with this, I just don't think we're going to beat this thing. We're going to have to learn how to live with it someway, somehow.

(Note: I am fully vaccinated).

Many virologists and epidemiologists predicted that this thing would become endemic as soon as it became obvious that this was going to become a global pandemic. Sure looks like that will be the case. It'll take years to get the world anywhere close to herd immunity via vaccination and while COVID doesn't mutate anywhere near as rapidly as the flu, it probably still mutates quickly enough to stay a step ahead of the vaccinations to avoid being completely eradicated.

So tired of seeing several idiot "friends" from HS beat their drum of how they don't wear a mask and don't make their kids wear masks, and they're not getting vaccinated bc it infringes on their red-blooded American rights and they ain't getting microchipped!  No idiot, but what it is infringing on is everyone else's, to live a healthy life and our desire to end the pandemic.

I just don't get it.  This pandemic has been absolutely eye-opening.  I knew people were selfish, but this has really demonstrated just how selfish people are.  If only some smooth-brained idiot hadn't politicized it, let people around him die from it, then got the world's best medical care that the American public could foot the bill for, and then quietly received the vaccine himself before leaving office despite all the wreckage he left behind.

Anyway, this whole thing has shown who you can really trust to protect people they don't even know by doing the smallest of gestures.  It's ridiculous.

Everyone stay safe and prayers for a quick recovery for your children, Jeremy.  And I think after 90 days once they're virus free, any kids 12+ (last i checked) can receive the vaccine.

Which one does not effect your DNA? Is there a study you can provide which shows one that for sure effects your DNA?

Just read up on all of them.  I think Johnson and Johnson is the only one that doesn't trigger the RNA to make spike proteins so antibodies are produced.  Problem with the others is the RNA doesn't leave the body.  Plenty of articles out there.

In case you're serious about the DNA reprogramming comment, that's not at all how these mRNA vaccines work. The vaccine contains a bit of viral mRNA (not complete, just a protein-encoding portion) that causes your body to build the spike protein itself based off of that blueprint and that blueprint is quickly broken down and disposed of after use, just like your regular cellular mRNA. From there, the antibodies react and you are then equipped to deal with foreign infection with the full virus capsule that includes the specific protein that your body recognizes.

Read here as well:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/mrna.html

As I've said, there are plenty of arguments for both sides.  I don't judge either way.  I trust natural antibodies over any vaccines that have been rushed onto the market.

If good arguments on both sides includes listening to a TikTok that says the vaccine reprograms your DNA then you aren’t getting accurate information. This is the problem. @Zod thinking it was 15 is likely from misinformation as I’d think he probably would have done it had he not unfortunately heard 15 somewhere.

I don't read, listen, watch TikTok.  Just read up.
