It would suck, but if the Bill's offer him a coaching job and we didnt then it's on us.

Yes, but 90% of the Huddle would still argue "well maybe he wasn't cut out for it," then once he balls out there just like most of the other Panthers-to-Bills, it'll be "well we should've signed him here"

He played for Panthers but doesn't owe us anything.  That said, it really hurts to see him in those colors and makes me wonder where things went wrong.  Why is he not attending Panthers camp like Smitty?  It just does seem to indicate like he really didn't get along with the new regime.

Ya he did not. And for good reason. The only reason he isn’t playing or coaching somewhere else is because of his contract. I’m surprised he’s actually allowed to wear another teams gear. Unless he contractually cut ties and I missed it.

He came by,  but I'm not sure if the staff let him on the field. Judging by this pic from Gantt, that's a no (also, note all the Panthers stuff he's not wearing).

He is retired.  He cant play anywhere, but he can coach wherever he wants

but would a NFL team still owing rights of a player prohibit them from employment as a non-player elsewhere?

We're in second year of the rebuild, did I miss something?  Let's wait until we see how this season goes

Tepper is ushering in this new era, which I said was trash. And he’s on what- year 4? 5?

The staff, that’s a whole different argument. I have a feeling they’ll be turned over sooner than later as well.

I don’t don’t according to jfra it doesn’t but I thought in the contract and CBA there are stipulations so people can’t “spy” etc.

You know, I remember this one guy years ago that most NFL teams didn't think was good enough to play in the league.

There was this one team though, they took a chance on him. He took advantage of that opportunity and made a stellar career with them. Heck, he wound up being one of their most beloved players of all time.

But then one day, he just burned that whole bridge by leaving in free agency (to an expansion team, of all things).

What a disloyal jerk that guy was, huh? 😐

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
