Could Panthers be trading for a kicker?

Slye will flat out lose us games this season. That has to be remedied. 

Yup, as bad of a team as we were last year, we would have been 7-9 if Slye didn't choke in the KC and Vikings games.

I think it is interesting that the NFL does not pay kickers based on their importance.  An elite pitcher in baseball makes nearly a million a start and they are on the bench 80% of the time. 

Justin Tucker, the highest paid Kicker (Gano is second, by the way) makes $5m--about $330k per game--and they play fewer games (1/10). I dunno.

I do not trust Joey.  He must Goey.

Teams aren't carrying two kickers into the regular season; just hold out to final cuts and put a waiver in for the best one available.  There's no need to trade unless the front office can acquire a ringer for a reasonable deal.  That's going to take more than a 7th rounder though.

Supply and demand I guess.

How many guys can hurl a baseball 100 mph ?  With very good accuracy.   Not many.

Of the 32 NFL kicking slots available every season most are held by someone who's been at the job for years.   So the actual number of new kickers needed is quite low.  And the college ranks graduate 20 or 30 kickers every year who could hit a 50 yard field goal.

The skill isn't being able to hit a 50 yard FG.

The skill is being able to hit any FG at 50 yards or shorter come rain or shine. Evidently not many can do that.

Well we got sold the idea that a sport psychologist would fix him. I distinctly remember some of the Huddle buying into that hogwash, in spite of his entire college and NFL career performances. 

They did bring in another kicker that promptly got shown shown door early in camp.

      Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.

      After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...

      My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
