Why the *** would we need a new kicker??? Slye was really good last season. Cause he had a bad preseason game lol.

Slye had 7 missed FG last season

2 were blocked

2 were from 65 and 67 yards away, impossible kicks nobody has ever made

1 vs KC was a 51 yard kick on a windy day day, Butker missed a fg on that same day.

The other two were legit misses.

Zero context in this thread

He missed 3 XP too.

I think we have seen more than enough of Slye to know he isn't the guy. He doesn't really have the yips. He has been the same guy from college to the NFL, with fairly little variation. Basically a career 70-80% FG kicker. That isn't likely to cut it long term.

Can't argue with you at all. The worry is always will the next guy be worse?

I'd probably rather shuttle kicker after kicker through to find "the guy" rather than keep a guy we absolutely know cannot get it done and will directly be responsible for multiple losses.

Joey, you aren't getting it done. Maybe you can take this failure and turn into success with your next team.

Or maybe Joey's mom/dad/sibling. Definitely has to be related to be defending him at this point.

    • Just worry about it next year.  Its that simple honestly.  its way to early to do what ifs.  I could see us trade/cut chuba and retain dowdle, I could see them let dowdle walk and go with Chuba/Etienne and Brooks, and I could see Dowdle and Chuba both stay and see what happens.  Hell, we still have 6 games left THIS season plus possible post-season...what if Rico or Chuba have an ACL tear or severe injury.  I DO NOT want that to happen, but stuff like that does happen.  Remember RB is the most injury prone position in the NFL due to the beating their bodies take so having some extra guys is never bad, just wish it hadn't come at the cost we paid to get him.
    • I think it’s cool that no one can be really certain what the outcome will be.  That’s a lot of progress! This is a real opportunity for us, I’d be happy with a competitive game and thrilled if we sack up for a W.
    • I could never found out who did the first surgery. That failed.      Nor who did the recent one.    Yiu can’t count on anything involving him. If it happens it’s a windfall at this point.
