Gentlemen certainly had his flaws but you can’t deny his successes here. After all, the Panthers reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons and the SB during his tenure.

You’re last sentence is spot-on. Here’s hoping what we’ve seen so far from Fitterer-Rhule regime is a sign of great things to come.

We also reached the Super Bowl with Marty Hurney as GM. He didn't suck any less because of that happening.

We also never had back-to-back winning seasons with either GM. We also shat the bed more often than not in the draft with both GM's.

Literally they were both trash. The only people that care about this anymore are the Gettleman fanboys. The rest of the us realize they both sucked, regardless of their highs.

Not defending anyones honor, or calling DG a great GM, just said he was miles ahead of Marty, and that was, and is proven in the actual wins and losses column.

The fanboy here is you, I just care about winning seasons and going to the playoffs.  I'm glad that DG is gone, I'm pissed that Marty was brought back, and I think that Fitts can do a better job than both.

I'm not even sure what kind of point you are trying to make here, but it's a bad one.

I mean, I am not the one dragging out this tired argument for one shitty GM versus the other. Feel free to look back at your original response and see who took up the banner of defense. They both sucked. Not my fault you can't see that.

There is not any need to be at each others throats over Hurney or DG anymore. They were both failures here. And yet each of them oversaw the two most successful seasons in franchise history that resulted in super bowl appearances. So with that in mind I really see no excuse Scott can't get us into playoff contention relatively soon. Gambling on the likes of quarterbacks like Bridgewater and Darnold might derail this goal if we are being truthful about the odds but hopefully the other pieces in place can help push us forward in the meantime.

You brought them up. You made the comparisons first. You knew exactly what would happen. Now it’s forget the facts and stop discussing how the GM for the most successful period in team history is as bad as the GM who ruined the team….twice. And couldn’t get a call for another NFL team until Rivera begged Snyder to hire him.

Gettleman was much better than Hurney, and so is Fitts.

I do think that Fitts is going to be better than DG, mainly because it seems that he and Rhule have a shared vision.

I get being hesitant to say he will definitively be better than Marty, but I'm not holding back...Marty was an absolute idiot, and had no business being anything other than a beat writer.

My original post.  Not praising DG at all, saying he was "much better than Hurney" is like saying that the three week egg salad is still better than the pile of poop that just fell out of your dog's ass.

But sure, continue on.

Yeah, I brought them up giving examples of why I am not gonna crown Fitterer yet(Gettleman reference) and then proceeded to trash them both.

It was Dave's nephew that got all butthurt and decided to come take up the banner of "MY SHITTY GM WAS BETTER!!" Dave Gettleman sucked, he still sucks now. Maybe you can go over to the Giants board and lecture them on how great he was in Carolina. I'm sure they'd love to hear it after their four straight losing seasons.

Also, you aren't a Panthers fan, so you are just arguing to argue.

Can’t argue that we crapped the bed more often than not but Panthers were in the playoffs 2013-2015. Lost to SF in ‘13, the Seahawks in ‘14 and the Broncos in ‘15 SB50.

Another perfect example of if I disagree with someone, I’m not a Panther fan so I shouldn’t say anything. But all those things I agree with you on is OK? Right? Not a bad idea considering the facts of all this. I guess everyone has a little hubby in them.

Quick question: If the Giants win the SB, does that make every decision DG made in CAR a suddenly “great” one? How’s this work. Giants win and Matt Kalil wasn’t a colossal mistake?

Let's just see what the win/loss is looking like in '21 and '22 before we trot out the clever monikers and weird mancrush.

Agreed. The guy has been here a couple months and is already the greatest GM in team history.  He hasnt even registered a Win yet as a GM even in the pre season. How does that work?

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
