We keep talking about how everything depends on Darnold playing up to his potential.  I would like to do some predictions and also define what SUCCESS looks like

with that stat line... it really depends on how many missed throws he has, and how bad the interceptions are. If they are mostly mistake free football and less erratic play... I'd say keep him and devote all resources to o-line and linebacker core the following season. 

My prediction is fairly similiar, but I think he will get over the 30 TD and 4k yard mark bc of how many games there are and the weapons around him.  I also think our defense wins one or two games, so I will go with 10 wins.

I think Sam's stats will look very similar to the ones Teddy posted last year.   Slightly lower comp % and maybe a couple more TDs.  Nothing earth shattering. 

but with more wins attached to his name than Teddy.

• Under 20 sacks.  Yeah, I said it.

A season like that would give me more confidence in Sam than I have now but wouldn't be enough to convince me he's our franchise guy. Same with my numbers below.

 

 

I'll predict:

4350 yards

30 TDs, 17 INT

62% completion, 7.5 yards per attempt

11-6 team record

 

 

Our weapons and Joe Brady's scheming easily gets him this yardage, Teddy had 3733 yards in just 15 games last year. TDs may be a bit ambitious but I think it's doable. OL brings his completion % lower and INT higher than we want, as he'll continue to make poor decisions at times when under heavy pressure. Encouraging season but, again, not enough to be convinced he's the guy.

I predict at least 1 TD and 1 INT.  Beyond that it's anyone's guess. 

But whatever he does it will not be enough for most on here.  I could be one of them.
