If the Panthers lose to the Jets.....

What should our reaction be?

By all accounts, the Panthers should come out and curb stomp the Jets. The Panthers roster is way ahead of the Jets, especially on defense. Almost every single pundit and their grandma is picking the Panthers to win this game. And as many long time Panthers fans know, when everyone is picking the Panthers, they always seem to lose in miserable fashion.

The Jets are likely to be one of the worst teams in the NFL again with a talent depleted roster. They have a 1st year head coach and rookie QB. Even though HC Robert Saleh seems legit from his time in San Fran and Wilson is obviously a talented young QB, they're both still inexperienced and this is the Jets we're talking about. The Jets one of if not THE worst franchises in the NFL over the last 50 years. They're a perpetual lesson in what NOT to do to have a winning football team.

So let's say the Panthers come out Week 1 and lose to the Jets. I don't really care how, because no matter what happened, a loss is a loss. How should we react?

Same as it would be to any other week one loss.

Move on and get ready for the next game.

I mean you can say that, just like Sam Darnold said this is "just another game" despite playing the team that drafted him and where he spent the first 3 years of his career, who traded him away for far less than his original draft value. But we all know it's not true.

A loss Week 1 at home to a team the Panthers by all accounts should beat handily would be a disastrous way to start the season.

I prefer Rattler or Strong but that and Rhule hotseat will be the reactions.

I dont watch college football. I just literally googled top QB prospect lol

I personally think Rhule is in the clear this year but next year will be they year they need to start making playoff pushes.

Disastrous starts happen.

What matters is how you recover from them.

I don't think Darnold is lying.

Sure, there's a bit of resentment there and maybe he'll celebrate a little harder than normal when we win, but he's evidently an even keeled guy. You have to be to play QB in this league - he can't focus all your energy on getting back at one franchise. He isn't Steve Smith.

    • Good lawd, look at the amount of rotation required for a mere 40-yard pass. No wonder he needs a runway for any throw beyond 50 yards.  Can you think of any NFL quarterback today who has a weaker arm than Bryce? For reference, with a similar amount of hip rotation, Stroud slung the ball 69 yards. https://x.com/VatorSports/status/1728845724434186374
    • I think the issue is there isn't any more of these posters still active on this site.  Everyone I see posting now either doesn't like Bryce or wants to see him in a better situation to make a better assessment.  I think everyone agrees he has work to do in order to show us he can become the QB we need him to.  Who knows if he will or if he can, but there are definitely other conversations to be had without being stuck on repeat and every thread turning into the same one.  It sounds like you need to find the Bryce Fan Boys from before the draft and just vent/hash it all out with them somewhere.
    • I am excited! New coaching staff that has a plan and vision and finally the whole team/front office seems to be moving in lockstep. We got 2 new WRs. One in XL a rookie who looks like a beast and the other in DJ who is an absolute weapon. Excited to see Brooks and Sanders ( TE ). We got some Oline help finally. Excited to see if BY9 is the guy ( I think so, but we'll see ). Defense gets a 2nd year and hopefully some help from offense and I believe Evero can coach them to be VERY good this year. ST should be interesting because kick offs are completley new.   I was just thinking the other day I can't wait for preseason to start. Always signals the start of actual football for me.
