This is going to be bad imo, the oline simply isn’t built to withstand the loss of cmc. It’s barley built to handle games with the best rb in the league.

Losing CMC is bad news for the Panthers and Darnold.   It is what it is.  

Losing CMC changes what defenses are comfortable with….and we saw last night they get a lot more aggressive coming at Sam with the CMC checkdown off the table.

and we dodged a lot of bullets last night that those Sam fumbles bounced our way.

yep.   I think Brady needs to create a gameplan that involves a TON of Bootlegs and Rollouts for Sam JUST TO GET HIM THE F AWAY from that sieve called the Panthers O-Line so he can make a play and not get killed.

Some good, some bad. 

The good. We are not a SB team (this year) so seeing what Darnold can do for the future is huge. If he is solid this year, no matter the record, then we sign him long term. We'll also have other options to relying on CMC for everything so when he comes back he's another asset, not the main asset.

The bad. Along with CMC, the Horn injury sucks as this Defense was looking legit long term shut down. In time, teams will find our holes. The O-line better get it's stuff together real fast which we all don't believe is ready to do that.

Possibility of using DJ Moore in a hybrid role and getting Shi Smith involved for the shifty routes out of the back field could be interesting. Throwing down field more will loosen up the box and help the running game, like they did in the 2nd half. O-line will need to be better.

This could also open up the 2 TE sets as Tremble looked real good.All this helps even if we split the games until CMC comes back.

Like a dropped int, it doesn't count.  No turnovers last night, zero.  Sam has played 3 games, 1 int, 1 fumble.  Fewer turnovers than many elite QBs while throwing for ~300 yards a game.

OL had its worst game to date last night too.

It’s the whole law of averages aspect.  If you put the ball on the ground a lot….it’s a problem.  Because it’s not always going to bounce your way. 

Ball security and bad decisions are literally the Sam Darnold knocks.  Always have been.  He consistently does it.   Ball security.   USC, NY and to date here.

and your numbers are off.   He doesn’t have 1 fumble on the season.  He has 4 in 3 games.  He had 2 last night, both in Carolina territory.   

fumbles and fumbles lost are two different stats. 

I’ll put the 2nd on Rhule.  Was stupid to ask Sam to attempt that drive given how things were unfolding.  Could see that fumble coming a mile away.  The first is just poor pocket awareness and ball security.  You got to feel that, protect the ball and move in the pocket better.

Whatever.  His turnovers are lower in 3 games than elite QBs have in 2.  EVEN if you add his fumbles that we recovered to his lost fumbles to his ints, and compare that, he still looks better than some elite QBs.

      Same, bro.  Yeah, it just feels it has run its course and I don’t know that we’ll ever get more value.  Plus, with the new ownership, this draft has been super encouraging, so dare I believe maybe this FO can get something to really put us over the top in return for Melo.  I’ll still be a fan of his game and try to keep up with him if we move on, but yeah, I feel it’s time to turn the page. (and side note: I felt so happy after their rookie years because I told everybody I wanted Melo and didn’t trust Ant.  And Melo clearly looked like the better player early…  I thought Ant would bust because all that stuff he said about not loving the game and just his resume to that point…  but damn, if we could go back in time.🤣🤣🤣. I love Ant’s game and at times, when he gets in the zone, he is THE BEST player in the league in my opinion.)

      Appreciate that, bro!  And I could definitely see that with Cam.  Even though he’s a little younger than me, he is also someone I admire and feel a kinship with for a lot of various reasons. Funny enough, a few years after that encounter with Steve, I went to Charlotte with one of my friends whose brothers owned a moving company at the time.  He dropped me off uptown and went to work the day with them where I would wait until he got done and then we were gonna go to the Bobcats game that night.  So I walk all through that area for hours.  After awhile, I walk back towards the arena and sit in a bench on the backside of the arena, where the practice court and player’s entrance was.  As I’m sitting there, I look up and almost think I’m seeing things - I squint and blink my eyes a couple times just to be sure, and yes…  it’s one of my childhood heroes, Muggsy Bogues walking across the crosswalk and into the arena.  I think he was coaching the Sting then, iirc.  Part of me wanted to just say, “Hey!  Muggsy!  Thank you for the inspiration and memories!  You were one of my favorite players as a kid!”  But, I just watched him walk by and into the arena and thought, “that was cool!”  I also so Miguel Cotto a couple years back while in Orlando and told my kids who it was but didn’t say anything to him.  I think somewhere in my subconscious, that encounter with Steve really made me feel like the gamble on finding out if they’re receptive to interaction just isn’t worth finding out.  At the end of the day, no matter if they’re receptive inspired us or were a hero, unless they initiate it, I likely never will…  because again, they’re humans just like us.  Not anymore unique or special, they just have a highly visible and very public job that we get to watch and in some ways participate.  So, I just appreciate it for what it is.

      I'm pleasantly surprised they gave it to Bryce Young over Josh Allen. Finally we're getting some respect. Now I'm just hoping the team follows this up accordingly and doesn't lay another egg.
