I know you don't want to hear it but if you aren't going to pay D. Jackson top 5 CB money then you need to trade him

This thread has super high odds of being predictably Huddle-seque…

Same people calling him a top 5 DB this week gonna call him overrated if he is beat repeatedly by Jefferson and Thelien this week.  Which easily could happen.  Because they are very good WRs with a capable QB throwing to them.  Something we have only seen once all year.

That hardly ever works though. Successful cornerbacks earn 4x as much money as a safety. Why would he want to play safety when he has a potential 50 million plus contract in the near future.

Did you watch the Ravens game last night?  Where they talked about that one player that has played everything from safety, to cb, to either end, and LB?  Yes, a top tier CB in that position can garner top money, but you give me that Ravens kid?  I'll take 4-5 of them all day.

Ideally, that's how we'd used Chinn.

Teams aren't coming off their linemen right now.  What kind of draft comp do you think we can get? Is he worth a 2nd? A 3rd? A 1st?  I would think he is more valuable playing out the year if we don't at least get a 3rd for him if we think this team can actually make a playoff push.

We got Henderson (#9 pick of 2020) for 3rd

We got Gilmore for 6th.

I think we would get way less than people think.

Uh, no. The Panthers traded Dan Arnold AND a 3rd round pick for CJ and a 5th.

My bad.  Had it mixed up.  (I’ll edit other)

6th round pick for Gilmore

3rd round pick plus JAG TE for the #9 pick of 2020

point still remains, nothing about that says you are getting a lot in a trade for Jackson. Who hasn’t put together one strong overall season yet.

Each circumstance is unique. Gilmore and the Patriots couldn't negotiate a contract that would allow the Pats a little more cap room, so their best bet was to release him. The Panthers paid a 6th so they wouldn't have to compete.

Jackson has had a strong year - so far - and shows signs of a breakout. His tackling ability has improved noticeably. For a team like Green Bay or another contender, giving up a late 2nd wouldn't be that big of an ask.

And, the Jaguars insisted on Dan Arnold. He's not JAG.

I'm okay with debating the facts, but let's stick to them and not try to mold them to our narratives.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
