I know you don't want to hear it but if you aren't going to pay D. Jackson top 5 CB money then you need to trade him

And also will land him on a different roster like Bradberry.   Fitts likes physically imposing CBs, especially on the outside.  If Henderson plays well, we have to let Donte walk so we can spend some money on fixing the offense.

Oh I don’t disagree, but saying we will have to pay Donte top 5 corner money is a bit extreme.

He’s going to get top 5 CB money unless he suffers a devastating injury, no way around that. Question is if you’re not going to pay it then why not get something for him now

Donte doesn't strike me as a hometown discount kind of guy.  Maybe not top 5 CB money, but top 10?  If Bradberry stuck to his demands and wouldn't budge, I doubt D-Jax would either.

Buy low sell high.  Fans always have a tendency to get too connected to players and can't understand for the good of the team, that sometimes getting paid for a developed player is the best route.  A running back you're not going to get as much as a ROI than a shutdown corner.  What I hate to see is if you choose to just wait and see and allow him to walk with nothing but maybe a comp pick, is a waste.  If you feel Horn will be back strong, Gilmore and the other addition is solid enough then get "paid" and see if you can get picks or some impact O-lineman.  I seriously doubt any teams are giving up their Olinemen.  Fitterer has his work cut out, but that's why he's paid the big bucks.

I still LOL when all those were heartbroken over Norman contact thinking he’s taking some hometown discount cause he rode horses and from the area

Hometown discounts only occur for one of the following reasons

 1) prove it deal (reddick)

2) injury (Newton)

3) back 9 of your career

 4) you’re married to a Brazilian supermodel who makes more money than you

On a positional value chart, CB is ranked higher than Guard. You'd have to wonder, if you ship out a top CB waht you could get in return. It would potentially be an all pro G and a draft pick.

However, what team in the NFL is crazy enough to do that? Maybe WFT? Also, what contract are you taking on in return? If we dont want to pay that much for a top 5 CB, Id have to imagine the talent you get in return would be just as expensive.

Guard is much lower on the totem pole than corner on the overall ranking of the position and the value it brings to a team.

Once Gilmore is off PUP, send out trade feelers for O-Linemen.  Fitts says nobody is coming off of them, I would suspect for day 3 draft capital in the future is what he's been offering, so I can understand why.  If we dangled an immediate impact CB in front of a team, they may be willing to budge then.

heck no.

this is on par with people claiming Sam Darnold might be in MVP and surpass every Panther QB last week.

Jackson shouldn't be paid like a top 5 corner because he isn't one.   He wasn't in year 1.  He wasn't in year 2.  He wasn't in year 3.  In fact he was often bashed for his inconsistent play and lack of putting int the work off the field.  No one would have considering him top 5, top 10, or top 16 coming into this year.  He has never been close to any of that.

5 games into 2021 doesn't make him a top 5 DB.  Especially, when 2 of those games were against rookie QBs making their debut, a Saints team depleted without coaches, and Hurts (who isn't a good passer).

This is the way though.  Two bad games and people will want him cut.

You can say that until you turn blue but his agents have a different take and will get it for their client

While I understand the idea to trade him for a top O-line guy sounds good, he's playing too good to do that right now, IMO. Gilmore is going to stay another 2 years or so. Henderson too (obviously). We can have a dominating Defense for along time keeping them all, while we can afford too. We can sign a top O-line guy in FA and draft 2 OL in the 1st 3 rounds (which I suspect they will do). We need a great center to anchor the line. That's what Ryan Kahlil brought to the O-line.

Fight to make a Wild Card this year and push for 2022 and beyond but also keep improving your record every year until you will the SB.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
