Yep. He doesn't want to come here and Stafford didn't want to come here.

Two elite QB's that are avoiding this place. No Bueno.

I believe this means moving forward we are a draft only QB option.

The top of the 22 QB draft class isn't looking like it has many great options. Certainly none as good as 2021 did.

Tepper & Co. were never interested...

...low/no-character guys like Mr. Whip-It-Out have no place in this organization.

huh?

the reporting is the offer is on the table and Watson simply won't waive the not trade clause for Carolina.

Why would Matthew Stafford OR Deshaun Watson want to come to Charlotte to lead a team at the beginning of a rebuild? We're less than two years into our rebuild. Both were stuck with losing teams basically their entire careers. Stafford was the missing piece in LA and Watson is most likely a huge sex pest who will buy his way out of jail. We can't compete with LA or Miami as far as destination choices for different reasons for both players.

Yep. Stafford had a really good option. Watson is saying that a 1-6 Dolphins team still looks like a better option than us.

The latest stuff from those in the know say he didn't choose the Dolphins over us.  It's saying we backed out, and I think the implication is, the Dolphins were actively pursuing him and he had already waived his clause for them.

So I guess we're at the point where we just ignore actual logic on this forum to fit whatever negative narrative we want to push.

😂😂😂where you been Mage? It’s been this way around here for as long as I can remember!

So here is our roadmap from here on out.

1. Go the rest of the season with Darnold, maybe win 1 more game

2. Draft OT Neal next draft. Do NOT draft a QB. This staff will ruin him to save their sorry asses. Let Rhule continue to be delusional about winning with his dumpster dive QBs. Let him start the season with a low tier FA QB like Jacoby Brissett or Mariota. DONT TRADE DRAFT PICKS FOR A poo QB LIKE U DID WITH SAM!!!!

3. Fire Rhule and his staff at the end of 2022 after another <= 5 win season.

4. Start over with a new coaching staff in 2023. Hopefully we will have a new owner then as well. Draft a QB and plug him into a decent core.

Why not give it one more year until 2024 and do a package deal of Riley/Williams from Oklahoma like Arizona did with Kingsbury/Murray

Because Miami is his first option.

This does not mean that he would NOT waive it for Carolina.  Which has been well-known the entire time.

If Houston/Miami have a deal in place, then why would Watson waive it for a 2nd team when he could go to his first option?

This does not mean he would not waive it for Carolina, if the Miami deal broke down.  It does not mean Watson would not play for Carolina.  It does not mean we aren't 2nd in line to get Watson.

You guys are reading far, far more into Ian's tweet than necessary.  The only new information was that we were not going to pursue him, "at this time."  And as Florio pointed out, who knows what "at this time" means?  It could mean that if the Dolphins/Texans deal breaks down, then we will be back to pursuing him at another time later this week or in the offseason.

100% agree. But, IMO, they will probably draft a QB. I don't think Tepper is gonna bite on a middle tier FA QB signing anymore. I am not sure the FO and coaching staff are gonna have much of an option.

Boy, that Browns reference is about to start getting REAL accurate.

    • Yea, I've never had high expectations since we drafted Bryce, so it's not like I'm just upset about not meeting them. I went into the season wanting to see player improvement and Canales' play design/calling improvement. I'm now to the point where I 99% only care about seeing individual player improvement.  The 1% is that I unfortunately have to still hope to see Canales play calling improvement, because that is kinda critical for the improvement of all our young offensive players. Offense is different from defense, you need good play designs and calls to show out.  On defense, everything can be a mess, but a great young player can still stand out and look great.  Our defense can be a mess but still have Horn locking down his guys on the outside, Scourton or Princely winning their pass rushing and pressuring the QB, DB swallowing up multiple blockers. But it's very hard for any QB, RB, WR, or TE to individually shine when the play design and calling is poo.
    • He actually said the Panthers are hanging on like a cat on a screen door lol
    • Oh, I'm not 100% expecting/demanding anything for next season. All that I want to see out of this season is progress, but I also understand that progress is not linear. I also understand that we've got a young team and coaching staff that are both developing. Expecting a winning record isn't reasonable at all, but I'll cheer for one all the same. I think that this is where some of the more angsty fans keep themselves in a perpetual cycle of misery: high expectations leads to low resiliency. Folks can have high standards, and the Panthers + Bryce have not met those standards, but some of those standards are completely realistic (like Bryce has to be built like Cam in order to be successful).
