With Cam, we are a contender. Sounds crazy, but this defense is pretty close to elite status. 6th in pts allowed. 1st in passing defense and 12th in rushing defense.

Cam can give this offense the jump start it needs and he brings a lot of energy to the team.

Having Cam changes everything. Even if he isn't the Supercam he used to be, he can still play smart football and will the team to victory. Especially with all of the talent he has at his disposal now.  Darnolds biggest downfall was his decision making. Also felt like the game was too fast for him. Cam doesn't have that problem.

I'm almost sure now That Sam can't read defenses... Or can't read it fast enough to put fear in any DC in the league..

Hes literally the slowest decision maker from a starting QB that I have ever seen in my 30+ years watching the NFL.

The deep ball is going to be continuously brought up when it’s not an issue…

For starters, in 2020 Cam’s passer rating was average or above average in 10 of the 12 passing zones. If he can maintain his 2020 numbers while limiting the interceptions then he will be fine.

Secondly, above was Cam’s passer rating with a Patriots wide receiver corp that ranked in the bottom six in separation last year. With Moore, Anderson, Marshall, and Zylstra, along with non wide receiver players in Tremble, McCaffrey, Hubbard, and Abdullah, Cam should be able to find open receivers much easier.

Finally, if Brady continues to scheme up plays like he did yesterday then the deep ball is really only an option just to keep the defense honest. The offense looked very Saintsesque yesterday with the amount of slants and short yardage routes that were drawn up. Cam will thrive in that type of offense and with how well this defense has been playing the Panthers could be a team that no one wants to face in the playoffs.

I agree. I don’t think he can figure the defense out pre-snap. Even though the receiver is the first read based on the play call, he could not read the defense & understand the 2nd read would actually be open at the snap. He locked on the first read & danced around to the second & 3rd read & then panicked.

it always looked a little odd how he made his reads. Nothing calm about him at all & it never looked easy.

True, one thing I noticed with PJ is he was quick to call out what he saw to his O-line, really great communicator. Also he had good footwork and didn't get antsy and bail from a relatively clean pocket. Sam is bad at all these things

I'm telling you, it's the yips. He had this 1+ second pause as he was looking at his first read. He just couldn't pull the trigger. I'm not sure if it was caused by the beating he took behind the Jets OL (and ours) but it's not super unreasonable to think that it might could have been coached out of him. Sucks that it didn't work out, but at least we're moving on.
