Ok I stand corrected I forgot about the "Sam Newton" game. You do realize that was the game where the staff became very clearly afraid of Sam throwing the ball right? And since that one off performance this is the first time in 7 weeks a qb has had that many touchdowns.

I never said Darnold was the answer.  Darnold was a gamble on young potential.  I just dont think Cam is the long term solution either.  I wouldn't be so sure the coaching staff believes that either or they would have offered more than a contract for the rest or the season probably.

Right. That's why these people are getting the side eye and they are all defensive. We've had a miserable several weeks offensively and all anyone has asked for is a qb who will protect the football at minimum and score some points. That wasn't the issue yesterday. We have some weirdos around here.

Do we really think Rhule and Co. have any chance in hell of fixing this with the draft this year? Or another off season of free agency?

Rhule needed a GM to hold his hand and groom him. If Fox and Rivera couldn't shop for their own groceries, Rhule sure as heck shouldn't have been.

He immediately targeted his tweeners and overachievers who made it to the NFL. Not the elite specimen types he had no chance of recruiting at Temple.

So you really think Fox and Ron didn't have a hand in picking the players??

So Marty for 10 + years was the one not listening to coaches and picking players to fit his philosophy alone??

Let's just start a games left countdown. A couple of more yesterday's and these turds will get flushed or they will see stands full of opposing fans like the home game before. It's really hard to belive they will improve enough to justify a 3rd year.

Hell I would be excited about Tepper hiring a consultant to put over all the staff. No one is currently in house that I feel good about being in charge. Fug feelings, these guys just are not doing a good enough job. Watching your owner make the best personal decision this year is terrifying.

    • Be in the MVP discussion and no, that’s not a joke, it would literally take that type of season for me to begin to consider him as the possible long term QB of the future.  It’s because I think he’s THAT bad, even him just improving won’t convince me that he should be thought of as a long term solution. For me, it’s a very simple discussion, he doesn’t posses a single above average physical trait for todays QB position, and he doesn’t have many at even an average level, most are below average to downright awful. And that’s just not something you should be trying to build a team around, especially with the direction the position is moving in todays game.    None of this is a surprise either, it was all there on tape before the draft, it never made sense to me to think he has some super brain that is so superior to any one else’s that it can overcome the fact that he has the physical abilities of an average high school QB. I still think he has the potential to be a gap starter type of QB in this league, like a Teddy Two Gloves. But that’s not who I want to try and build around for the future in the slightest. it was a horrible trade and an even worse pick, sunk cost already, just gotta ride him out until we are in a position to draft someone new, potentially as early as next draft (although I’m not against sucking for two years and doing it in 2026 if there isn’t anyone worth it next year, just like the Bears just did, trade the pick and compile assets for an extra year).
    • I think it will hopefully be reasonable improvements but I doubt we will compete for the division. 24 TDs 3000 plus yards but I’m not sure we are complete/experienced enough to turn it into wins.
    • Be better in all facets with the new players and coaches around him. I'll cut him some slack on the poop show that was last year, BUT the things I did not like last season that I want better:  Arm strength and/or better decision making know what you can and can't get away with now. Leadership: this is intangible and I understand we don't see it all but give me something on TV. No slouching, show some fire and have more fun hopefully with more success.  The quick decision making I saw early in the season needs to come back, he got beaten down by himself and supporting cast and was unsure of himself the second half of the season. Learning how to get out of the pocket without being sacked and working some magic there, it was a big plus of his in college. We saw glimpses of it last season. Deep ball accuracy HAS GOT TO IMPROVE, he will never succeed in this league as short QB if he doesn't improve there. Depressing 3 & outs with him throwing ducks can't happen anymore. If he hits on some of these things he'll naturally have better numbers. Winning more games would cure a whole heck of  a lot too.
