The counter to your argument is that if Cmac had the Dallas line from the 90s or the Steelers line from the Cower era he might score like Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl.

These scrub running backs aren't able to take full advantage of the line being great when you have one.

They aren't scrubs

like Zeke is washed already drafted in just 2016 when Pollard a 4th rounder isbarely a drop off and with Zeke they still won nothing. Bet the Cowboys would rather have any of those after him but especially.... Hell that Cowboys with Jalen Ramsey or Bucker lol not even close to a debate.

Then Derrick Henry was there in the 2nd Where they took Jalen Smith who is now out...

The Cowboys had already drafted OL currently to even be in that position and was still the not hindsight worst move and a poo move.

Another point to this story is that it shows Tepper as a decision maker to extend CMC. I get the feeling Tepper is an “involved owner” on football decisions. This is rarely a good thing and could be why this team has only won 22 games in nearly 4 seasons since he has been the owner.

2018:  7-9

2019: 5-11

2020: 5-11

2021: 5-7

Because we are years away from sniffing a championship

We need 3 ol and a QB and a Mike and we are set.

Unfortunately we have an idiot in charge that won't use this time left in the season to evaluate Brown and Christensen.

But a good center a good guard and an average LT would go far.

Great thread.

Pretty amazing that Hurney is so god damn stupid enough to buy high for real. OH THIS GUY HAD A GOOD SEASON WITH TWO YEARS LEFT LETS MAKE A DEAL!

Instead of letting it play out FFS this team has been managed by children

Hurney contract yes but he did what he was told. Our new owner had hired a new coach jettisoned Cam Newton and needed a face to sell tickets that's what it was about. Hope it was worth it.

Cam Newton was "getting the dog crap beat out ofhim". Thus, they needed someone that wouldkeep opposing defenses from focusing on Newton alone.

The Panthers were looking for a back who could take some of the wear and tear off quarterback Cam Newton, who’d been battered and beaten throughout the post-MVP and post-Super Bowl season of 2016.

We may be the only team in the league dumb enough to think we need a running back instead of an offensive line to help keep our QB from getting annihilated every game.

A word about Khary Darlington, the scout referenced in the first article...

He was considered a rising star in the scouting department but he disappeared from the Panthers (and pretty much the world) mid 2017.

The timing makes it seem a strong likelihood that Darlington was the employee whom Jerry Richardson used a racial slur against, and that he subsequently took a settlement with a non-disclosure agreement. That would explain his falling off the face of the earth right when it looked like he was headed for great things.

Thanks again, Jerry 🙄

    • The only other position group I could think of is ILB since Dan was there for Rodriguez and Hill Jr. pro days in Texas. It’s one of the reasons I get the feeling ILB could be the pick at 19.
    • Nobody is saying we don't need it, just that we have bigger needs elsewhere, and that type of WR is actually something that is often found in the mid rounds, you just have to scout and evaluate properly. Here's another way of looking at why WR in the 1st shouldn't even be considered an option. Looking only at players currently on the team, what position group would you feel strongest about 4 years from now? I'm not sure there is a better answer there than WR, as you have to think T-Mac is our best player on the team in 4 years (Brown is the only current player I think there is even an argument to be made over T-Mac there), with Coker not far behind. Our OL is too old to be considered, my opinions on Bryce is well known, Hubbard will be done by then and the rest of the RB is an unknown, Off-ball LB is maybe our biggest need, we only have 1 legit safety, it's certainly not TE, and our 2nd best CB right now will be 33 by then.   Brown should still be a beast as he'll only be 31, but nobody else on the DL projects to be that good in 4 years.  Edge rusher with Phillips, Scourton, and Princely is probably the only other possible answer than WR. So yes, that fast/shifty type of WR is 100% a need of ours, but we have so many other bigger needs both in the immediate and future, that to me, taking a WR in the 1st for the 3rd year in a row and having hit on another WR in the same time frame, just makes zero sense both currently and looking into the future.
    • Laughing at Slayton (Mooney or Calvin Austin III), but telling me that Coker is the next best thing since sliced bread...You laughing at Theo Johnson in reference to our guys too? LOL No one in their right mind thinks Nabers is anything but a stud (definitely top 10 if not 5 potential). You do realize that Thomas was in a new system with a furst-time coach last year (with a questionable QB to boot)? And yet still, it's possible that he eclipses even T-mac (not saying that he will). They didn't even mention Travis Hunter. In any event, we're not in the top half. Draft another legit receiver, and we will be.
