Observer article by Ellis Williams. How the Panthers got here

This entire article has been written by a few on here from day one of this regime.  Confirmation Bias has been the key to believing any move was more than a “win-now” since the day Teddy was signed. Gilmore is one of the  least of any of those issues.

Negative trolling just seems to turn into fact around here awfully fast.

It’s fact.   You can call it negative.  You can call it objective. You can call it an honest assessment.

No matter what the label is, the facts of the moves happened. The impact of the moves failed in dramatic fashion

We're definitely in a bad spot, but truthfully, the only "win now" move was Gilmore, and even that one has some upside in that if we lose Gilmore, we'll get the pick back as a compensatory.  Darnold was a calculated risk that failed, though I still think the price was too high.  If you look at Henderson as a third round pick, he's in a good spot.

Even if we let both Jackson and Gilmore walk, the top of our CB room next year is Horn, Henderson and Bouye.  And we get picks back for Jackson and Gilmore.  The sky isn't falling, but it's definitely cloudy.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

New coach? Ja!

New GM? Nein 😑

Fitterer was infinitely more qualified for his job than Rhule was for his, but Tepper stupidly gave Rhule full control.

Im not in favor of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, especially since it'd mean Tepper picking both replacements.

Fire Rhule, fox the structure and let Fitterer and Morgan find the next coach.

I only agree with this sentiment like 60%. On the surface Fitterer looks like a good GM but he was hired to be essentially a yes-man to Rhule and Tepper. Or does he step up into his own after Rhule is gone?

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
