Probably Howell. I think it’s close. Pickett is more polished, but Howell has more athletic ability so maybe a higher ceiling?

Everything about this season has just seemed a little weird to me.

Pickett makes me nervous because he hasn’t been good.  His college resume is basically his year as a 5th year senior.    I don’t want to draft a QB who played 5 years in college and was only good his 5th.

Do you guys have additional info on the arm talent? Pundits are saying he has a bigger arm than Herbert. At least from everything ive read. Sounds like you have both watched him play. I was sold when I read he was a faster stronger Herbert.

I don't see the rocket launcher of Herbert in the little I've watched him.

I think Pickett is much better today but Howell has a higher ceiling. Pickett has less day one warts than Howell.

Neither makes any sense for the Panthers. TBH.

Pickett would be on IR by week 5.   Draft oline roll darnold out.  Let him take the beating and get a top 5 qb next draft.  This isnt fuging rocket science.  Rolling any rookie out there to start behind this line is insanity and will probably ruin them after a couple of seasons.

With Rhule back he will know it’s playoffs or bust. I can’t imagine the impulsive decisions he may make as a Hail Mary to save his job going into next season

Obviously not an exact match but the same argument could be made for Brady. Though he did have two OK years once he was put in. Though I don’t want to touch, hear about, or have anyone from Rhules pool close to this team ever again.

    • Why is it a no-brainer? I mean the idea of a hold out made me laugh out loud.
    • Oh, oh. I see what you are saying. Yeah but not all of those were draft for draft replacements. Jones was a dumpster dive. The overall point I was making is that it is becoming more common to see this quick pivots as people realize their mistakes. It happens with a lot of busts historically at QB.  IDK about "most teams" have fast, capable WR's. It's a mixed bag across the league. There are the Hopkins, Evans, etc that aren't sub-4.5 guys and are still star players.
    • So if it comes down to that, and it played out, we could be looking at a post June 1 designation for his 5th year money at best. Assuming it is guaranteed which I don’t know.     13.25 mil cap hit in 2027 and 2028.   I have to admit I never really went into the angles after picking up the option. I have always been don’t do it.    So, you pay him the 12 mil for year 4 and if you want out when they go into extension lobbying you trade or cut.  Is that conceivable?   The thing about trading is, I believe all the guaranteed money hits your cap right then. That’s 26.5 million if correct.  So if they picked up the 5th, this would cover the ‘we want out’ expenses from our end, after year 4.   Correct?
