Could it get worse?

Watson is set to make 35M next year. Won’t be any FA signings if they trade for him. They would have to restructure many guys just to fill out the roster with 1-2M players.

We’d have to send Darnold to Hou as part of the deal to clear cap.  He wouldn’t add value, would simply be a cap clearing move.

we could also restructure Shaq and convert CMCs salary to a signing bonus

You would have to send HOU at least a 2nd round pick(maybe more) just to take him. Along with whatever it takes to get Watson.(3 1sts and ???) And they have already kicked both those guys guaranteed money down the road which is why CMC is already almost impossible to trade. Trading for Watson is about as foolish as keeping Rhule for another year.

As long as Watson is cleared legally, I don't have a problem trading for him.  And I expect the cost to get him will be significantly lower than what has been reported thus far...

What I do have a problem with is trading for Watson if Rhule is still coaching here.  Trading for anyone while Rhule is coach will be a complete waste of assets and resources.

We’ve all had a time in our lives where the right decision was obvious to the world and yet still we gave the finger to wisdom and took the pooch to brown town.

Smart?  Hardly.

How poo really goes?  Yep.

Valid.

Never affected thousands of fans and a billion dollar business when I screwed up, though.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. If you drop back like that in the NFL on a regular basis you're basically on your own. Your OL can't do a whole lot for you. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of generating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
