If you want to win now (1-2 seasons), then it is Harbaugh. If you want to wait (3-5 seasons) then someone else. Harbaugh can get more of what we have, while a new coach will more than likely require more players and scheme adjustments.

Most of our best players on the team now who want to achieve great things but may have very little time. They're in their prime now like CMC,DJ,B.Burns for example.

All this rebuilding is amateur talk. If you don't WIN in the NFL you won't have a job. You should be building your team to win every season.

Dude got his one win against OSU then gets blown out in the playoffs, now he’s “interested” in the NFL again… hard pass.

Hes playing the “I finally did something worth talking about so now you pay me more or I’m leaving” card.

Georgia had their way with his team.

Pass.

True, although the talent gap between Georgia and Michigan was substantial.  Michigan OL won the Joe Moore award but not sure they were the best OL.  Bama and Georgia as good or better.

Georgia had better talent everywhere except probably the Michigan DEs

What difference does it make?  He’s not coming here.  Every other team opening has a better QB, while the Panthers have the worst collection of QBs in the league, and they certainly wouldn’t be on the hook for paying another coach for five more years

Yeah, lets ignore that they couldn’t get him out of SF fast enough.  He is a leader of young men…but same mistake twice if we hire him.

It was the relationship he had with the owners. It was dumb to force him out over their egos. He knows so to win was had the Niners playing better than Wonderboy Kyle is now.

I'd be estatic if we landed him. We need someone who is experienced and can get the most out of the talent we have here, and Harbaugh'd definitely be a guy who could do that.

Yeah, i'm not quite sure why some are acting as if an organization that has went 45-67 since firing him is some sort of beacon of competence. Especially at that time, they've improved now (thanks to firing Baalke out of a cannon) but the Niners were a total clownshow for a little bit there. They fired two head coaches after 1 season back to back immediately afterwards. Trent Baalke was largely involved in this power struggle too and was later fired himself because he is one of the worst GMs in football. Got a new job with the Jags, who he has also continued to run into the ground.

This is what kills me about this fan base..

They can go crazy about some hot now coordinator.. Who has never ran a team or has the resume to compete with a Harbaugh... Its like you choose to repeat the same mistake a different way.. Ready to hire the next Question mark who will need time to figure out how to be a HC.. Instead of getting the guy who done it successfully already..Then bring up narrative and stories they don't know poo about and act like they are reporting facts..

He wasn't losing that Locker room.. Him and GM didn't like each other and the owner choose the GM who he was friends with.. They got lucky to get Shanahan but still haven't been as consistently good as they were with Harbaugh...

Reality check.. If this article is true.. Its rare a sorry ass team like us are in position to get a coach with this type a resume.. Harbaugh is a sure bet to come in and clean up the mess Rhule and Tepper have made.. We would be crazy not to throw the kitchen sink at this guy to get him here..

Put this in perspective…Michigan fans wanted him out before this season.

With the talent they are losing I would not count out a losing season for Michigan next year.

Also, he isn’t going to fix the offense.  We need an NFL guy that knows offense badly

Ppl keep asking why would he come here??

Easy..

Money and power..

We can offer both to him..

Richest owner in the NFl and not alot of egos in the FO staff..

We gave a no experienced coach a 70 million  7 year contract full control.. We shouldn't be afraid to do the same and more for a guy with Harbaugh's resume...

Not to mention he has lived in the area  before since he was a backup QB here..

What makes you think that??

He went to a NFC championship game with a game manager 1 year then went to the superbowl with a 1 read and go QB the next.. That shows adaptability to the talent you have.. Not to mention he is a former QB.. He knows offense.. smh.

He is not the answer man.  Like REALLY not the answer.  A part of me loves the idea because I freaking love John H as a coach but a stretch.  If it happens I will support but hell, I still support Rhule.  He hasn’t had enough time here IMO.

The absolute hatred for Matt Rhule is pretty amazing.  Sign of the times but Rhule has tried hard to build a team in 2 years and because he isn’t winning he is called a joke.  I don’t get it.  He does know football.  Of course he was going to struggle in the NFL.  Every coach does…this league is brutally hard to win at

It's not entirely because he isn't winning at all. It's because he's regressed in ways no one on this board could have predicted possible. Pair that with the fact that he's a liar who only looks out for his own - it's no surprise that a lot of folks aren't buying what he's selling now.

    • He is a great guy but a horrible reporter. He makes my skin crawl when I hear his name. I heard that babies cry and dogs attack him when he enters a room. Other than that he is a good dude. Now go burn in hades u sum bit.
    • The job just really passed him by. He came up when basically you just needed to get three or four quotes, toss a couple of team provided stats in there, and stretch it out to column length. you got your copy in by 330, out the door by 4, then chill/shmooze the rest of the day. If you were really good you got a book deal. Every now and then you got to write an editorial. The goal of the profession was like Peter King where ostensibly you’re a beat writer for whomever but you get paid to just shoot the poo. now it’s a 24 hour job, you’ve gotta be social media savvy, the pace has increased substantially, you’re expected to produce more than ever, you gotta be able to look through bullshit etc. there’s still risk of industry capture where you just become a mouth piece. Sheena Quick is obviously shameless. I don’t think Newton ever aspired to be more than an inoffensive beat writer, but even that relatively simple role was just more than he was cut out for. its even worse when you’re covering a team that expects the Fourth Estate to act as a PR extension, or considers them on par with buying Twitter bots to promote Bryce. there were over thirty papers that covered the panthers first training camp. In that environment there’s room for boring guys like newton, and they may even be incentivized to push the boundary a little. But today that just isn’t the case and most of the guys are hanging on until retirement (person, gantt) or they’re good and gonna be matched up like Jordan. im not defending the current state of sports journalism, just saying that what counts as a meat and potatoes beat writer passed newton by. He’s retiring well past his sell by date, but that’s pretty common for his generation in general.
