Get that Oline or trade down.

Terrible QB class this year, so forget about that.  Gotta be o-line.  It's going to be harder than ever to trade down because of the lack of talent at QB this year.

Deangelo is right. We just can't assume we can just trade down to acquire more picks. In order to move down, someone needs to be willing to move up. I don't see anyone coming out of this years class who is so great that a team is going to want to give swap place in the first round, lose a high draft choice in round 2 (or 3) and give up a 1st next season.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Jimmy Johnson draft chart. I understand why he and the Cowboys developed it to gauge the value each draft choice. The problem is that the whole NFL decided to use it as a guideline for every team and every trade. Those first 5-10 picks are overvalued in comparison to the other 1st round slots. No one should "have to give up a first round choice" the next season to move up in the draft. If you swap picks voluntarily and receive a two or three high picks in the same draft that should be enough. If I were a GM I'd NEVER trade up into the top 10 for anyone unless I had a glaring weakness and was literally one person/one person away from competing for a Super Bowl title.

    • This season’s leader, Daniel Jones, is averaging 265.9 yards per game, that would rank 12th in 2015. Even going back to 2020, he would rank 10th in passing yards. So it does appear that passing yards is down, but is that because they aren’t as good? Possibly, but we were spoilt in recent years when we had Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Ryan, Stafford (etc). As crops of QBs go, it was an amazing era to watch and most will end up in the Hall of Fame. I’m not convinced you we could list as many potential Hall of Fame QBs from the current crop. Will it go pass heavy again? I think there’s a good chance that it will, but it will require QBs that can consistently air the ball out in the frequency we saw in the 00s and 10s. I think currently coaches are favouring a more balanced approach, if not favouring a strong running game.
    • JR loved him and from what I’ve read, Steve viewed him as a father figure.  Again, there was talk of him being released after the Bright and Lucas situations from what I recall.  I think the only way he survived those was JR.  and to further your point he even said in this interview that he skipped offseason workouts his whole career here and told Marty to keep that money from his next deal but he wasn’t coming because she had his own trainer.  We NEVER heard any of that during his career.
