This can be a playoff team next year if we bring Cam back......

Seeing as he fielded a 52 rating in the superbowl with better offensive talent than we have that’s an easy yes. No o line and it doesn’t matter who’s at wr or te

and your argument is flaw seeing as numerous qbs have left one system and thrived in another

I mean you’re arguing from the null hypothesis that the current iteration of Cam Newton is as good (or better) than Pat Mahomes. That really says it all / I think we’re done here.

Better than his MVP year with consistent protection + Moore, Robbie, CMC and a full preseason

Gotcha — all I needed to know. No real point in arguing when the baseline assessment is so disparate. No hard feelings and have a good night.

Idk if you understand the point being made is no qb would succeed behind this o line, roster and coaching. No one is equating cam or any qb on the roster to Mahomes…….

Just keep in mind the only reason Carolina decided to cut Cam had nothing to do with performance, but his ability to stay healthy. He's healthy now and has been the last two seasons.

A healthy Cam putting up these numbers means something is very wrong besides Cam himself. It's ok, you'll see.

Tony Romo said the same thing during the game last week. Yet people on here think QB is the problem, and want to draft one at 6. And are quick to blame Darnold, yet not Cam. And lets not forget that 2nd ranked defense giving up 23 points a game.

You were on record loving the Darnold trade so ofc you are going to go to bat for him. That's sweet. He's still a bust and we need to draft our own QB this year or next regardless of Cam or PJ.

Do you have a car? Maybe you'll get one if you get a driver's license. But it doesn't matter what kind of engine it has if all of the tires are flat. And replacing the engine doesn't fix the tires.

The focus on the Miami game is good and I will say it is a symptom of a few things.  The offensive line is bad, combine that with the fact that Miami knows Cam cannot throw the ball and sold out getting after Cam compounded the issues.  It is hilarious to see the same people that support Cam saying that nobody could be successful behind that line and then they say Darnold sucks.  Bottom line Darnold nor Cam are starters in this league.  Time to move on.

Your attempts at insults are adorable. Bless your heart. Anywho yeah we know the oline needs to be addressed. That surely could have already been in progress if not for the bumbling of Matt Rhule and Scott Fitterer. But our awful passing didn't help matters and when your quarterback is fumbling and throwing interceptions and generally just playing terrible that only further helps defenses especially when they know said QB has very little deep pass accuracy to speak of. Neither of the top two quarterbacks from 2021 are the answer in that regard. This really isn't that difficult but we can help you if need be.

Posters say darnold sucks cause we’re about to pay him 19 mil next season, we traded valuable picks for him and his decision making is horrible, all this while knowing he’s shown nothing to warrant the money nor picks and while being able to get better production from a guy off the couch.

guarantee if we didn’t trade nor pick up his 5th year option people wouldn’t be as down on him.

I’m definitely not sold on darnold being the answer even with a good o line but I can see that getting sacked 6-7 times in a game isn’t giving him a fair shot

If we fix the offensive line, and give Darnold more time to throw, he might set the franchise record for interceptions next year.  Most of his picks came when he had time to throw. On the flip side, he might have fewer fumbles.

Exactly.  Yes the offensive line is hot trash.  But so is Sam Darnold.  Both things can be true.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
