Championship games thread

For those discussing OT rules. OT should be sudden death. It should never be changed in the playoffs. That said these favoring offense calls should go in OT as well. It should be a standard that the defense gets the benefit of the doubt in OT.

I watched the six OT hockey game in the bubble. It’s fun. But it’s not fun. We don’t need college shoot outs in the NFL. It’s sudden death. If your defense can’t cut it. Get the fug out.

Thanks, still learning the game.

No problem.  30 years ago they would have stopped the clock and called him out of bounds.  When games started lasting 3-1/2 hours without going into overtime, they tightened that up more making this call more and keeping the clock running.

One of my best friends was a Chargers season ticket holder for a decade. When they left San Diego, it was like the franchise no longer existed to her. They would have been so much better off in San Diego. They needed a new stadium, but that shouldn't have been an impossible task.

Even on a financial/cultural level I don't understand how it benefits the state to take resources away from a cul-de-sac city like that. W Herbert attendance would be up, they'll be in the playoffs next year

College format is interesting and far and away better than the NFL format.  The NFL format was mostly designed during the old days, when NFL games tended to be very low scoring and dominated by defense.  With the rules changes making offense easier, the OT format needs to become more modern and closer to being fair/even for both teams.  Some model of the college style would be a vast improvement.  But the NFL tends to be slow to adapt major changes to the game.

That being said, kudos to the Bengals defense.  Amazing that they kept Mahomes out of the end zone from late in the second qtr, thru the second half and one series in overtime.

I don't mind the format. I don't want to see a game go on forever.

    • I think i like the Oregon Safety better
    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
