Whole lot of Deshaun Watson chatter happening out there

I wouldn't even worry about them driving up the price with fake offers.  Fitt is very connected to other FOs and agents, I'm pretty sure he has a solid idea of what's going on.

The issue is, I don't think Tepper cares.  They've said he has wanted to put his mark on the team with his own guy since he got here, and I think he'll do anything to make that happen even if it goes against the advice of his FO.  He's a fuging idiot.

Tepper wants a superstar QB. Simple as. And we’re not gonna be settled until that happens.

The only thing that may make sense, and it would take Tepper being smart and shrewd....Give up a large amount for Watson, but not push the payment to future picks past this year and possibly next.

Get him here, maybe he misses 8 games, maybe 12, but this season is a throw away anyway.  Then get a good coach after Rhule is fired next offseason, when it's time to start trying to win.  The lawsuits and shame will be behind him.  He won't have a shortage of fans in the Carolina's.

I don't think this is the plan, but it's the only thing that would make this make sense.

I don't think there's any way you get the Texans to agree to something like that.

I don't think so either, but it's the only way that I would be interested.

This years 1st and 3rd, and two quality starters may get them somewhat interested...but who knows?

I don't want us to do it, but sounds like we are hell bent.

Don't have a third (traded for CJ Henderson)

Seattle has a ton to offer the Texans now and they are in need of a QB.

Carolina is also still mentioned every single time Watson is brought up.

Should be a bit more clarity on his situation after his court date on Friday

If I was a betting man my money would be on Seattle.

I'm a fan of Rhule, obviously, and I haven't given up on him and the Panthers yet. I'm willing to give him all the excuses about covid and all the BS he's had to deal with as a new NFL coach in that situation coupled with the horrible state the team was in when he arrived etc.

But I will admit, right here, right now, that I will be deeply disappointed if we trade our future away for Watson right now. Not even counting judging Watson based on these accusations but even from the football perspective of it. This move makes zero sense to me. Signing a player that will take away our cap space and not allowing us this opportunity to add some decent FAs plus our future first round picks? I just can't believe Rhule would go that route.

Then adding to it the character concerns when Rhule is always speaking about culture? Honestly, that move would remove most of the reasons I'm willing to take the abuse I've sometimes received for defending him. I may have unpopular opinions and some of you may not like me but I do strongly believe in the principles that Rhule expresses which is why I like him. This would contradict all of that imo and I'd lose respect for him and I'd have to change not only my tune but my name.

I just can't believe this is true. This story comes out every 3 months or so and nothing happens so I'm hoping this is just journalistic smoke and mirrors like usual.

(I added paragraphs this time free of charge)

Takes a lot of balls to support crap. Rhule is crap. He is a terrible NFL coach. Can’t wait till he is gone.

    • A team should do everything they can to prop up their investment in a QB regardless of who it is.
    • I am not wanting to be too judgemental of Morgan over his first draft given the circumstances.  People don’t like my rationale but you know, I don’t so much like theirs either.  I was adamantly against drafting Bryce and very resentful over the extreme (imo) measures taken to prop him up. I feel like Dan got caught in that trap with demands or conditions placed on him to help out the QB and the new Offensive minded head coach.  And my biased opinion is that it was still all Bryce centric. Micro managed and solely focused on making him a viable player after his first disastrous season. Mandated to help the offense in that draft.  I feel like my speculation is reasonable given the climate and situation, and it includes the reasons we didn’t take a C, the reasons we overdrafted a RB and that particular WR. It was totally need based. Perceived needs. All to maximize Bryce.    And if it were me, and I wanted the GM slot of my team that I came up with, I would be willing to accede to the agenda that I feel was in place. The goals he had to meet.  It is pretty simple, just put Bryce’s needs at the center of everything that was done and work your way through it.  I have no idea or inside info, and people have mocked my opinion for it but that is what it is, it still makes sense to me.
