Commies took Wentz's entire contract

I think the point here is that they gave up 2nd and 3rd round picks for a QB who looks washed. You're not giving up 2nd and 3rd round picks to rent a guy for a season. Giving up that kind of premium capital the least they could've done was forced Washington to eat some of the contract.

They gave up 2 3rds and swapped 2nd. They essentially traded a 3rd and a 4th pick for Wentz (since the 3rd is next year). Thats not really premium price to pay. This is a low risk move for them, because they can wipe their hands free after this season if it doesnt work out.

and how am I supposed to get that point from "Commies took Wentz's entire contract"

It's a premium price for a QB who is washed.

From what I read, I'll have to find the link again, the 3rd round pick next year is a conditional one where if Wentz plays more than 70% of Washington's snaps the Colts get a 2nd round pick instead.

Commanders get: Carson Wentz, QB; 2022 second-round pick.

Colts get: 2022 third-round pick, 2022 second-round pick, 2023 conditional third-round pick (converts to a second-round pick if Wentz plays 70 percent of snaps).

Yeah, it's way better than the Darnold trade.

True now but his current salary for this year eats up all their available cap space. They'll be doing a simple restructure to kick some down the road.

The Darnold deal is pretty disturbing because it shows clearly what Fitt had in mind at the time. He really thought that the 5th year option would be a huge financial bargain for the Panthers after Sam DESTROYED the league in the 2021 season. He thought we'd be counting our blessings right now for have Sam tied to such a cheap 18.9 million dollar deal. In other words Fitt is a moron. No one outside of the Panthers brass thought Sam would be good. No other team even bothered with an offer. Spooky stupid.

Sadly, Rivera and Hurney have been better at finding and developing quarterbacks than our current regime is proving to be.

Talk about only having to hop over a very low bar.

Heinicke > Darnold and in what world would you have thought that to be the case three years ago?

Honestly, I was like, "yeah, this could be a really smart deal if it plays out." Man, did it ever NOT play out.

Epic fail and I was wrong back then. Of course, me being wrong doesn't cripple a franchise, so...

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
