Watson Watch Day 4 - The Finale

So if Watson goes to New Orleans after they just extended and guaranteed the contracts of a bunch of "over 30" players, if they have given up draft picks and possibly a few defensive players, and Watson is suspended for 6 games, then it is likely this move is for 2023.  These "over thirty" players are then untradable, uncutable, and there will be no pipeline to replace them.  As soon as 2024 they will start feeling the effects of having a bunch of overpaid, over-the-hill veterans on the roster in their mid 30s.

It just does not make sense.

this is the right move for the franchise. I'd say make one move for Derek Carr and use 6 on a LT, but if we cant land Carr for a reasonable price.... then  go sign Cam and draft Malik. It will re-energize the fanbase.

The goal is not to "energize the fanbase." The goal is to win. And you don't win by swinging and missing on top 10 picks. You better be right. And Willis is not the guy I would gamble on.

Exactly and I'm loving it

Welp. That random chick tweeted again. “The Saints go marching down. Remember the Alamo. The Lone Ranger rides again. 28-3”.

I think we all know what that means. It was fun while it lasted, boys.

Wait…. David Crockett was killed at the Alamo and was from Tennessee so DW is obviously going to the titans

Atlanta doesn't make sense either. If he wants to win, we are best set up for that with the current roster and financial situation. But we also have an idiot for a coach and a bumbling owner with a history of doing basically nothing positive. So whatever. fug everyone involved.

A couple of things to put this in perspective if the Watson debacle shakes out with the Panthers losing out on Watson:

- Watson's legal and disciplinary troubles are not over.

- He does have a history of knee injuries that is worrisome.

- The Panthers are not one player away from winning a championship like the Rams were last year.

- We are only into the 2nd year of the new GM's influence on the team

Wmif we have a QB that performs at a high level we're a playoff team.

If the oline improves, the run game shows consistency, we put up more points in the red zone and get teams off the field on 3rd and long we're pretty damn legit team.

Not all of our issues are personnel though. We have injury problems and poor coaching as the two biggest issues imo outside of QB and two OL positions.

If we don't land Watson we continue to look at improving the OL AND SCHEME and see what happens because there aren't any other transcendent QBs available this year.

This place has become unbearable. Many of you have gone WAY overboard with your criticism of Tepper. This looks like it is a definite swing and miss but at least we have an owner now who is willing to play ball. I don't think he is going to stop until he gets us a legit QB but it could be a little painful along the way.

I also cannot take anyone serious who thinks the answer is to draft a QB at # 6 that in a normal year, would not even be a first round draft pick.

Exactly so why blame the staff and owners for a player being a complete dumbass and not seeing what is in front of him..

If you offer a person a slice of pizza and that person chooses a poo sandwich how is it your fault??

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
