Willis might as well get a pro day thread as well… he’ll be live at 1:00PM.

The talent level he played against worries me some but I also saw some throws that he made that he would have to make in the NFL.

It will be interesting to hear what Fitterer has to say about Willis after the Pro Day.

Anyone willing to trade up past us for a QB in this years draft gets what they deserve.

I like Willis but I’m not trading up for him or any other QB in this draft… if the Lions decide to go QB then more power to them.

I agree.

but after looking into him...  does he actaully have a QB brain?   missing 1st reads and stuff.  might not process the play in real time.

Was my primary concern as well. I think QB School did a break down on it last year.

That said he apparently absolutely crushed the interview portion of the combine though and left a great impression with a lot of coaches. Came across as very coachable.

The raw physical talent, strong character and that report would let me easily pull for the kid and get behind him if he is the pick at 6.

Looking forward to watching this one and seeing how much of a presence we have here today.

Umm Carson wentz, Josh Allen,  he'll Warren moon, Jerry Rice, all those guys come from lesser programs. Talent and traits don't change.

Well his completion percentage is higher than Pickett. And a lot of the stuff you are saying about Willis they said about cam. But Willis seems to be fairly accurate.

I don’t see the hype honestly with him or Pickett

They hype is his cannon arm. He's fairly accurate as far as option based qbs go. And he is being compared to a right handed micheal vick by Mel kiper... I think the tools to work with are exceptional. If he was 6'3 we wouldn't even be discussing who qb1 is.

True, but Cam did in the SEC, and set records while doing it. Wills is not coming with that much fanfare. I feel whoever gets him needs to coach em up, and Rhule has shown so far he can't do that.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
