There isn’t going to be a phenom prospect available at 6. If there is one in the next draft chances are we won’t be picking first (especially if we draft LT and solidify our OL) so we would have to trade a lot of picks to get him. Only use one first round pick at 6 and take a chance on one that has potential to be great but needs some work. This is how Allen worked out for the Bills, Mahomes for the Chiefs, Lamar for the Ravens etc…

Maybe. But I’m not in football and neither are you. Do you not see the point of this thread?  We do we’ll playoffs. We don’t Rhule is fired. Win win!!

Yea but you get the same thing bringing back Cam and taking BPA at #6. If Cam is truly done like most on this board believes he is, then we get a high draft pick without much commitment to Cam beyond this season. If Cam does well then we have our QB for the next 2-3 seasons and we are a playoff team. Taking one of these Qbs at 6 this year, sucking and taking another QB in the next draft with a new coach while being stuck with the one we took at 6 would be such an awful situation. We likely would pass on a QB next year if that's the case while being stuck with a new HC and still an unknown situation at QB.

If we take a QB at 6 this year I feel like Tepper will give Rhule yet another mulligan while he continues to "build" this team. No way we are a playoff team with a rookie qb at pick #6.

Just in general, way WAY WAY WAYmore clip board holders in the other group. The one outside the top 10.

QB with a high pick is a big risk; like only 20% actually work out. After that? Those chances rapidly decrease to infinitesimal.

Over the last 25 years, first round QB's have "hit" at a rate of about 50%.  For all other rounds combined, the number is about 10%.  Those are the numbers.

I kinda don’t understand what you guys want. “Not first round Qbs”. Ok, we’ll roll with Darnold? Complaining and moaning. Trade for Baker or Jimmy (my least favorite option) - complaining and moaning. We’re in a position to be picky about our options. Damn near 29/32 teams have better qb on their roster than we do. Trust their eyes and what they see, more than the blind “not first round qbs” junk.

Because people are stupid. Esp the people here.  Coach potatoes would rather roll with junk.  DAs all over the place.

I’m personally going in with optimism with any situation. We dodged the biggest bullet in my eyes, Watson, so even if we absolutely suck with Darnold again, the picking should be ripe for a qb. If the team finds one of these guys fit, let’s roll with em and be excited.

    • So, objectively, you'd say from a holistic review of Rico's performance and the team overall there were at least a dozen players on the team that performed at least as well if not better in their roles?
    • I'm not a huge fan of BY, but he does have some clutchness developing
    • While you're correct, people are just sick of being told, "you don't understand this, you're dumb" despite what their eyes say. This applies to the Panthers and anything else in life. This board can be a miserable place, but this isn't the old days anymore because Social Media & Reddit have hijacked old-school forum users.  I have in the last year or so taken a massive step back from Social Media & Reddit. Deleted accounts on both, I only have X/Twitter now. But I was looking for an outlet for Panthers talk and I did not want to do that on X much at all. There are only two legitimate outlets for that I've found, here and SB Nation. SB Nation I used to partake in, but they absolutely bumble-f*cked the comments section, and I like the setup of the posts + comments, as opposed to article + comments. Also, as others have pointed out, being a Panthers fan has been a horrendous existence since Cam left. Just an awful crew of coaches, draft picks, trading away great players, etc. It's been miserable.  Ever since Tepper bought the team, I hoped that he commit to a full rebuild. He never did, he thought there were shortcuts and so did Rhule. This hamstrung us for years, and then he massively overstepped with the BY trade.  This ruined the team building, because there was no depth, and then it ruined nuanced BY discussions because of the insane haul we gave up. He will never live up to that, I think many people are finally wrapping their heads around that now which is good. The best thing for this board to get better is for the Panthers to win more, draft well, and to stay committed to crawling through this Andy Dufrense poop-pipe to escape the depths of NFL hell. It will be ugly and stink along the way, but you can see already this year if we commit to drafting then the team and the vibes can turn around quicker than you think.  I am extremely optimistic about the draft class this season, it's something to watch, talk about, and celebrate. It also gives Dan and I think by extension Dave Canales more of a leash, which I think we need to give them and grant them the time to turn this boat around.
