100% agree. It’s the most important position on the field so throw as many darts as needed to get it right.

The point is that it takes time .. years .. to know if a dart hits .. maybe year one Corral isn't that good but year four he's T10 QB

Right? And like Aaron Rodgers did as a rookie.

And like Carson Palmer did as a rookie.

And like Tony Romo Did as a Rookie.

And like Tom Brady Did as a Rookie.

And like Kirk Cousins did as a Rookie.

And like Drew Brees did as a Rookie.

Corrals situation is a lot closer to Wilson’s than any of these. Pretty silly list to be honest

That could be but you don’t pass on a QB you like just because your current guy might hit in four years time.

I’ll mention that it’s rare to not know what you have in a QB by the the end of their second year as a full time starter. The only current starting QB that fits into that narrative is Tannehill.

Were any of their coaches on the hot seat though?

That's kind of a big factor.

You start the QB that gives you the best chance to win. If that ends up being Darnold after a full camp, then you should consider Corral worse and no better than a career backup.

A franchise QB will grab that starting spot and never give it up.

Patrick mahomes did not play his rookie year

Is ours? I know it's a popular opinion but I'm not convinced that it's a correct one. I'm not saying that it should or shouldn't be correct only the Tepper had so far demonstrated a lot of patience since buying this team. He spent 2 years getting the financial side in order as he put it while keeping the old regime and even then kept Hurney 1 more year.

I may be a moron but I honest to God wish they draft Strong with their last draft pick to A)send Walker packing and B)just get some more competition in the qb room.

What is the absolute worst that could happen?  Plus we all know some dude named kalon barnes isnt making the final roster

I actually believe he is.

Sorry, dude.

If we are at the top of the draft next year then you are probably looking at a 100% clean and total rebuild for this franchise.  I think Tepper would scrub the coaching staff and Front office from top to bottom and start over.   So yeah I new staff and new qb would be in the cards

No reason to be sorry at all brother. I'm not emotionally invested in Rhule even if he's in my name. I just thought it was a clever name at the time. I still don't think he's on a hot seat though. I do think it's warm which is why we've seen him take a step back this off season. Also, I'm sure they are aware that he's not very popular at the moment among the fans so there is that to consider. But I'm also expecting us to look much better this year compared to last season. Last season was a disaster, it's true but everyone forgets that we were all mostly quite pleased after season 1 all things considered. Bringing in a totally new offensive staff was a good call and I love who we brought in. Coupled with the new additions to the OL I think we're going to be fine. Which means Rhule will be fine as well. I also still believe the Tepper is just patient. He is a hedge fund guy after all and a very successful one at that. That requires patience or you buy and sell to soon and profit less.

I mean....if he wins the job you start him, IMO. If he is the best guy, put him out there and let him learn. If you find out he isn't the guy, so be it. He was just a third rounder, not the #6 overall pick.

Kid gloves are for guys that aren't ready. Supposedly he is one of the couple of guys that might actually be ready.

Maybe allow Donald to start, and after a few weeks if is still the same old Sam with this line. Then put Corral in and see what happens.  No reason to throw Corral to the wolves right away.  They didn't start Kerry right away.  You are correct this is the last year of Sam in Carolina.

Start Corral Day 1 so we know if we need a QB in '23 .. if Corral is bad we need to draft another next year and earlier

You can't start a third round rookie QB - in a weak QB class - and if he struggles come to the conclusion he isn't the answer after one season

Say he did start this season and looked bad overall but better as the season progressed .. how do you attack the '23 draft .. you throwing away Corral after one rookie season?

I’d throw away Corral for Bryce Young

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
