ESPN's Dan Graziano: "the majority of the people to whom I spoke with believe Jimmy Garoppolo will likely end up being released" sign with Carolina Panthers

ESPN's Dan Graziano talked to several NFL executives and writes that "the majority of the people to whom I spoke for this story believe both [Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo] will likely end up being released."

He also canvassed player agents and coaches for this story, noting that the Garoppolo situation is less messy so there's more of a chance that something gets done. Ultimately, barring a big quarterback injury in training camp that changes things from where we are today, it's not hard to believe this conclusion is coming. Fowler also notes that people most often connect Garoppolo to the Panthers and Mayfield to the Seahawks

I don't care about any of the guys who's agents would love for them to play here. Whatever warm body for 6 games and then play Corral. I'm fine with it being Sam. Not sure how much Jimmy has left anyways now and Baker is a mess waiting to move

He probably has a few more choke jobs left. This coaching staff loves choke jobs.

Panthers reportedly have 'concerns' about Jimmy Garoppolo's shoulder

The Carolina Panthers have repeatedly been linked with Garoppolo in rumors, as it's widely thought he'd be an immediate upgrade over Sam Darnold and third-round draft pick Matt Corral. However, The Athletic's Joseph Person reported for a piece published on Monday that "there are concerns within the Panthers organization about the health of Garoppolo’s throwing shoulder after surgery in March."

With Corral in the fold, we're just showing disinterest until they hit our price point.

I even read somewhere that Drew Brees may unretire and upend the current, very small, QB market.

I'd rather just see Corral for 17 games.

No more Darnold.

I don't have an issue with a cheap Baker or Jimmy G but solely on a one year deal. If possible, completely forbidden from resigning/extending them until April 2023.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
