The only rational for Mayfield

The rational is that he is a proven top ten QB with the right support, while being an ahole or whatever he is.

Sam is a proven bust and Corral is a mid round rookie.

The rational for not getting him is we want to lose, or think we will lose regardless.

Baker is not a world beater, but he has done significantly better than Darnold when healthy. He is probably not the long term answer, but if you think you can upgrade for the coming season, you do so. Corral needs to be able to develop slowly.

Baker isnt close to a top 10 QB.

You have to name off guys like Kirk Cousins and Tannehill before thinking about Baker and they are a good ways down the list.

Obviously Baker isn't top 10 but Cousins is above average at best and honestly Tannehill is fuging overrated. People talked so positively of him bc they wanted to latch Darnold onto his improvement as a means of coping with the trade and justifying it since they both had Gase as a head coach.

Cousins has consistently put up better numbers than Baker, if he is above average at best, what does that make Baker?

The dude is a throwaway just liked Teddy B and Darnold.

Mayfield can be our next Delhomme or our next Rodney Peete... not sure where that fits in on our current situation....but we're in QB purgatory hell...so, herd them in and herd them out.... Less u ridin Golden Corral...which I am...  he can play or he can't go on to 2023...fk it...

We know what Baker is. Better than Darnold but so was Teddy. We could have kept Bridgewater but that's long gone. So who are you hitching your wagon to? You want to talk QB's but I can't ever get a straight answer out of you about who you want. Why straddle the fence? We're in purgatory anyway.

Im pretty sure I already said I want to see what Corral has before next years draft, its the only thing that makes sense.

We already know what Baker, Darnold, Old Cam, Jimmy G etc. can do none of them are our franchise guy.

Corral getting significant playing time is the only real answer. But I don't trust this staff to handle it properly. Not after that 2 QB system nonsense last year. If they're going to play him then give him a real shot not late in a game after Sam Darnold has been turning the ball over and playing like crap for three quarters.

    • I saw an interesting point the other day about our type of situation.  It could have been wise to hold him off for 1-2 weeks, but that would not have anything to do with Bryce and you could easily communicate that from a PR standpoint.   Why? Well, we just brought an entirely new staff into town, new offense for the returning OL, and had wholesale turnover elsewhere.  So just run Dalton out there the first game or so to see how things are shaking out.  Dry run to make sure we won't kill the kid.  We weren't eyeing the SB.  Get a sense of the line, the receivers, the playbook.  It gives you a glimpse of what Bryce would be stepping into and a good barometer on where things stood sans him.  I suppose we sort of did that with Dalton, but that was a reactive switch and like @Ricky Spanish mentioned, it was against an injured SEA defense where we threw a ridiculous amount.  Who knows, maybe we could have at least won a game or two more that way.  You can adjustments prior to Bryce stepping in, better tee it up for him, and maybe we end up winning game 1 or 2. Last year was such a sh*tshow.  One of the worst seasons I've ever experienced in any sport for any team.  Absolutely nothing made sense together.  Happy we cut the cord early, but should have never hired that crew in the first place.
    • Johnson is gonna want $20M+ next year. That's why they should have drafted Ladd.
    • It's like folk didn't even watch the game. Dalton took a beating, and barely avoided a lot more violent hits. No 35 years old QB is going to survive a season like that. Imagine him against Dallas or Houston or Indy or Detroit or New Orleans twice! He played better than Bryce in that 1 game, but he wouldn't have lasted half the season.
