There were reports that he didn't want us, or at least didn't like us as much as Seattle (which is understandable).

As far as the Panthers, word was that it was a debate. Some wanted Baker, other's didn't.

Apparently, the ones who did won the argument.

Considering the deal we struck, the Seahawks must have had next to no interest.

I’ve said once and I’ll say it again, Baker is a woman beater and a jerk but he’s a Panther now and personally welcome him with open arms and open ass

Send all your women beaters and used jock straps to 800S Mint Street. Pride and morality and common f'n sense be damned!

What do the stats say about Mayfield’s performance?

It’s been more meh and blah than good in terms of a few overarching metrics. Mayfield’s Estimated Points Added per dropback (via TruMedia) ranks 27th among qualified quarterbacks from the past four years at 0.03 (43 qualified quarterbacks). During the last four individual seasons, Mayfield’s best single season in EPA per dropback (via TruMedia) was in 2020. His 0.12 EPA ranked 39th among all individual quarterback seasons (131 QB seasons) from 2018-2021. Mayfield’s other three seasons:
  • 2018: 0.07 (65th)
  • 2019: -0.01 (95th)
  • 2021: -0.05 (107th)
In passer rating terms, Mayfield’s 88.3 mark ranks 33rd among the 43 qualified passers. Of the individual seasons in the span, Mayfield’s best passer rating came in 2020 at 96.9 (51st) among 131 QB seasons. Mayfield’s other three seasons:
  • 2018: 94.3 (63rd)
  • 2019: 79.0 (119th)
  • 2021: 83.5 (109th)

brees and manning were hurt

the pats wanted brady back

and that is funny as hell you are comparing 3 HOF qbs to mayfield, any port in a storm I guess

That's the point.  Just because a team no longer wants a QB doesn't mean they are terrible.  I used extreme cases to prove a point.  The Patroits didn't want to pay Brady what he deserved (dumb move).  Manning and Brees were hurt, but recovered fine.  I mean Baker was technically hurt too, he just played through it.  I just love how I clearly stated I am using extreme cases on purpose and you still try to call it out.

so you admit it was a stupid thing to post, thanks

His point is you can lump that Darnold trade in with many other trades and make it look bad.  We all agree that trade was dumb and so was the extension.  That doesn't mean this trade is....

Been watching that dude since he was in HS he turned his back on being a Texas longhorn talked a bunch of sh*t then went to OU and pissed off the Texas tech fans and is just generally a huge douche and crybaby.

Aren't you living in Austin? From there? Had he went to Texas and played ok ... how would you feel? Are you basing this off of something a high school kid did?

You have some serious issues man.  Learn some reading comprehension without getting so freaking triggered.  I used EXTREME cases to show the FLAW in his logic.  No where does it say Baker is a HoF QB or anywhere close to being as good as any of those guys.  Just because a team no longer wants a QB doesn't mean they are terrible and I illustrated this by showing damn good QBs that had to switch teams.  I can't believe I'm having to break this poo down for you.  It's like arguing with Sizzle....

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
