Freddie Kitchens: Baker Mayfied’s passion is an attribute, not a detriment

The problem with baker as I have read is that he would call out a lineman for missing a block and then throw a int on the next play.  That kind of poo didn’t fly and split the locker room.

Then that's a problem of the team, not Baker. If they can't handle some constructive criticism from the guy watching everything unfold, that's on them. Joe Thomas (ultimate football name for the position and team) retiring was the end of cohesion there.

Cam had that kind of passion and it left him on the sidelines brooding with a towel over his head at times. When he channeled and controlled it, though, he had a historic season and took us to the pinnacle of the sport.

It's a maturation thing and it happens when a hero finds out that they are mortal. I think Cam found it in that truck wreck. Maybe Baker found it in the Deshaun Watson/Cleveland train wreck. I hope he finds that maturity and strength that Cam did. It could be quite magical to see that again.

The calling out of a teammate to the media for trying to get a better contract will rub lots of guys the wrong way. Some things are not your business and you should stay out of them. You can't knock a man for trying(even if it didn't work) to get all he can in a short NFL career. Baker did that and I'm sure that stuck with a few of the guys in the locker room.

He was either in his first or second year in the NFL, he was use to college loyalty. People really need to give up on that.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
