Give me your ideal Panthers starting OL

I’m hoping the Panthers will consider adding Bradbury, Charlotte native and NCST alum, if he becomes a FA next year and Bozeman doesn’t resign. I read somewhere the Vikings may not exercise his 5th year option.

That's for a good reason - every Viking fan I know says he's been terrible. I don't think of PFF as the gospel, but they agree too

Bradbury has ranked 33rd out of 33, 35th out of 35, and 32nd out of 33 in PFF pass blocking grade among centers with at least 500 snaps during his three seasons.

Looking like Center may be the last battle between Bozeman and Elflein which was expectedly unexpected.

Ekwonu-Christensen-Boze/Elf-Corbett-Moton

It pains me to put Elf on the list but if this apparent Bozeman struggle is real, then maybe it's a bit more of a tossup than expected. It just surprises me more than anything given Bozeman's resume.

I don't think Christensen is this black and white, tackle-only type.  He's not bad at LG, but yes, he will face more unfavorable matchups at the spot.  Can still see him being respectable there.  It's not like he can't get stronger, and honestly, he looks a bit more beefed up this year.  We will see.

I also hope Cade Mays continues to show off.  He's looked ahead of his fellow backups so could be one of our solidified swing lineman that could slot in at a few spots and become a starter in a year or so.

The remainder of our lineman are pretty meh.  Erving will likely get cut, hopefully Jordan.  Deonte has simply not pushed his way into considerable playtime to warrant an opinion one way or another.

Yikes! That’s not good and one can only hope that a change of scenario and scheme may be what’s needed. I’d be happy with either Bozeman working out or a ‘23 rookie if this is the case. Thanks for the info!

You sir are the winner.

Ickey and Corbett at G would create a running/screen game that would open up everything for CMC.  Ickey would be an immediate candidate for an All-pro spot in his rookie season. At LT, he gets eaten up by pass rushers, stunts, and blitzes off the edge. He'll be lucky to break the top 20 LTs in the NFL. BC has shown he can handle the edge rush as good if not better than Ickey.

Ickey will eventually be moved to G in his career. If not with the Panthers, with another team that has a championship minded coaching staff.

You sure think highly of a guy who couldn't fill the team's biggest need and prompted a first round pick the following season. Ickey will be lucky to crack the top 20 but BC's good to go? I know we're all down on the coaching staff but damn.

I think that we all developed our opinion of Elf when he was sucking at LG--when I watched him at C, he was decent, in my opinion.  Discuss amongst yourselves.

I agree, he was decent. He does get bullrushed too often, but on a lot of other occasions the LG was supposed to be there to help out, but since that left guard was MJ…

Not super excited if he’s the C, but not a disaster either.

If I view both BC and Ickey as starting OTs who would be ranked 20 to 25 in the NFL, I view BC as a 20 to 25 starting OG, and Ickey as a top 10 OG with PB potential, then what makes the most sense as the optimal starting lineup?

Why would I want to go with an OT/OG combo that would produce among the bottom of the league when you have a PB potential at OG and a serviceable starting OT?

The OL is better with Ickey at LG, and both Michael Jordan and Elf on the bench. I'd much rather have BC or Erving at LT than Michael Jordan or Elf at LG.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
