I'm not going to say that Rhule is incapable of making good decisions, but he has set a precedent of making some bad ones. If a dog bites me a few times, it doesn't me he'll bite me every time, but I sure as hell ain't going to trust him enough to try to pet him.

Yeah that's fine and that's the type of stuff you would incorporate into Rhule's overall evaluation as to whether you think he's a good coach or not.  But you should still be able to separate your overall opinions of Rhule from your opinions on any individual action he takes.  I'm not arguing that we should blindly trust Rhule, I'm saying we should be objective and levelheaded enough to not let our opinion of Rhule poison our ability to evaluate an individual move beyond simply the person making it.  If Rhule traded a conditional 2029 7th round pick for Pat Mahomes, could we agree that's an awesome move?  Or would we pause and say "wait a second....this is Rhule we're talking about...nothing he does makes sense!  He must have gotten screwed somehow.  TERRIBLE MOVE!".

No his logic is Sam Darnold is a hellofa great quarterback compared to you.

Likewise Matt Rhule is a a hellofa great NFL coach compared to you.

Or, Marty Hurney sure is a hellfoa great GM compared to you.

Personally, I'm not sure how you got Sam Darnold must be a great quarterback with what he wrote. Did you not read it? Did you drop out after 3rd grade? I don't think what he wrote was hard to understand so I'm befuddled at your conclusion.

Setting aside the personal stuff, here's the thing...

Darnold doesn't have to be a better quarterback than me. he needs to be better than Baker Mayfield.

Rhule doesn't need to be better coach than me. he needs to be better than Bill Belichick...or whomever else we happen to be facing this week.

Marty Hurney doesn't need to be a better GM than me. he needs to be better than whoever the Commanders are facing this season.

We've been over the whole "they're professionals so they know more than you"  suggestion numerous times on this board, and it's always been found to be a silly argument for reasons like those stated above.

Being smarter than me or any other random fan is a pretty low bar to clear.

Pretty much...

Matt Rhule's decision making has led us to pretty sad results. It'd be pretty hard to argue otherwise. That doesn't mean every single decision he's made was bad anymore than every playcall in a losing effort needing to be a terrible choice.

But when there are enough of them that you consistently don't get the results you want, well...

Can he get better? It's possible. Likewise, the aforementioned Sam Darnold could suddenly become a great quarterback and lead us to multiple victories.

A lot of us just don't see either of those things happening.

And logically, why should we?

Thing is, why did you respond to the side note at all? It just made you look dumb, imho. I don't disagree it's a bad argument, but you didn't address that and instead made a statement that made you look like you can't understand basic logic. It was an odd response from you.

This is a fuging fire post.. And if ppl would say before evaluating a move.. "I hate Rhule and everything he does so this is way I feel this way".. Instead of trying to hide behind some facade of expertise and non facts to poo on a move.. I can take there opinion more seriously...

Jmo

Did Chip Kelly have this many stans in the Eagles fanbase? Hell at least he actually won some games. Back to back five win seasons. Three divisional wins in two years. Matt Rhule doesn't need you to defend his honor he needs his team to perform better because he's been calling the shots.

Here's the exact quote...

Ppl poo on Tommy Wiseu for "The Room" and how bad it is.. But I got to give credit for the guy still making money off the worst movie ever made... They actually have nights still in movie theaters where ppl travel and pay to watch it.. So while you "think" you know this person and that person isn't good at something.. The fact that they've done it and got paid for it gives them more credibility then you..

So within this paragraph, there's an argument that someone can be considered good at something because they made money doing it, as well as the notion that you need to be an expert in that same field to know when someone does something poorly.

Both of those are really dumb arguments. I only addressed the first because frankly, I found that sufficient.

Now I've addressed both.

And also, thanks to the posts from guys like Wow and others, we're back to wasting time talking about the people doing the posting rather than the actual topic, just like what pissed off our mod @rayzoryesterday.

Sheesh 🙄

I can agree with this and don't have a problem if you base your criticism on this..

But when ppl try to fake expertise on how to run a TC and rep Distribution.. As the base of their criticism.. I'm asking them what is your creditable experience on the subject. ..

(What was the rep Distribution for this player and that player..

How was TC run for this team and that team..)

Show your work!!

Instead of backing your poo up with actually facts and valid points...

No the point is other then "I can see this because I've watch football for 50 years" and By my watching football I can see he isn't good"

Instead actual data and information to Express why this move or that move is wrong...

You're basically saying "Rhule made the move so its wrong.. And I know this because I watch football"..

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
