Joe Person: Panthers interested in trading for Jets WR Denzel Mims

The roads are paved with players that didn't happen for.

True.  Double lane highway though.  Lot of it paved with guys that simply weren't willing to put the work in at this level too.

I'd rather have an injury concern than a heart/want concern.   Give me TMJ.  If Mims wouldn't even commit to learning the positions outside of his ideal spot he isn't what I would want the Panthers to go out trading for.

For a 7th, fine.

NOT FOR TMJ.  An injured rookie TMJ had as many yards and ZERO drops last year.

Mims had a higher drop rate than Robbie last year.

Please no.

Except that Mims has a higher Rec/GM and YDS/GM than TMJ.

Availability is an ability and so far we are approaching 3 years into him not being healthy.

I don't think either of them will pan out, TBH.

TMJ played in more games, so he actually had the higher availability.

Mims had 12 yards a game. TMJ had 10 yards a game.

I'd rather have 10 yards and zero drops than 12 yards and a  higher drop rate than Robby.

TMJ was a rookie and injured.  What was Mim's excuse?

Why do we keep trying to get players from the Jets? Their team has sucked for decades, they can't draft, they can't coach and they rarely win.

I mean, if you want to become the Jets, this is how you do it.

Why not, and this might sound radical here, try to get modest performers from the good teams instead of modest performers from the bad teams?

I mean, there are worse things. I'm never gonna get upset over trying to acquire a talented wide-out.

In on every deal. Somebody (maybe a WR) would likely have to go is all.

I get that there are other more pressing needs, but opportunities at those positions have yet to present themselves. When and if they do, we'll consider them.

You are looking at 2021, I am looking at Mims career stats.

Mims excuse was he was in the coaching staff doghouse, so he was available to play. TMJ was not and when he was he made little to no impact.

    • I think Bryce is going to be brought back, but I also think it is a good year to draft a QB in the middle rounds who might fall.  There are some who were once thought to be first rounders and who are suddenly 2nd or 3rd rounders.  One example is Sellers who is supposedly falling into the late first--if he continues to drop, we'd be stupid not to move up into the early second and take him--imo.  He is Cam Lite, if you ask me.  Of course, as the draft gets closer, there will be premiums put on QBs.  We can already put Simpson, Moore, Mendoza in the top 5 or so, imo, the next tier is where the QB value is going to be
    • Aggressively go after a QB? Like 2 first rounders, a second rounder and TMac aggressive? That's what got us here. Build the team, then get the QB. If you think this passing offense is set minus BY today, you're not being honest with yourself. Now they have potential, but they aren't as good as many seem to think. I can't think of any games this season where I said yeah our receivers and TEs are better than theirs. If they can upgrade QB without doing something ridiculous, then I'm all for it. If not, then continue to improve the TEAM and THEN get your rookie QB like they should have done 3 seasons ago.
