And I don't want to hear ONE person who likes The Wire tell me RoP is slow lolololol.

If you know very little about the lore, like myself, I think you‘ll enjoy this show more. I completely understand people who are mega-fans having a hard time with the show changing a ton of lore to fit the original story around.

Another great episode just dropped. Long one too. It's just like watching a movie. So good. Plot is picking up here at the half way point of S1. War is coming. Adar is ... who? MITHRIL! And yeah, still no sign of Sauron.

I am beginning to like this more than House of the Dragon.  Nice little twist on the ending of episode 8.  

I don't necessarily care that much about whether it matches the Lore.  The movies didn't match it completely and they were great.

Yeah the finale was pretty good. Too bad we have to wait until 2024 for season 2.

the change in disguise for Sauron was supposed to throw off the fans who know the story as written but I figured it out pretty quickly, so I would have rather seen it as written, but it’s still well told.

Jokes aside, I still love the show.  It's a mess in parts, but I just love the style.  I understand how they were trying to make the best of their situation with only having access to the appendices.  They also needed to make a show that would work with the non-lore-nerds.

I go back to friendship.  Man, the way they weave the entire plot based around friendships is so good.  So Tolkien.  Heck, the entirety of LOTR and the History of Middle Earth are based an awful lot on friendship and relationships.

I can't wait to see more!

Its really good.

I read The Fellowship for the first time in something something seventies and in the decades since Ive read most of what JRRT wrote.

 

Its not a perfect reproduction of Tolkien's words but its a damned fine TV show based on that world that gets close enough on the spirit of his tales.
